2022 F-150 Lariat Powerboost Coolant Leak

I had this issue on my '21 Powerboost. Small leak in the driveway every morning. Dealer replaced the heat exchanger and havent seen the issue since.

I would feel the same way IF THE PART EVER ARRIVES!!!! GOING ON MY TENTH WEEK. "COPUS" TICKET AND ALL....STILL WAITING.

The wait of ten weeks doesn't seem right. Mine was down 29-days and Canton, NC is not on the beaten path. If it is any consolation, my truck has worked perfectly since I had the new heat exchanger installed and I am more impressed with the vehicle every day.

I visited the dealership on Tuesday and learned from the "Warranty Lady" that the part "shows" as shipped from Ford. Still waiting on Friday for the call....

Same issue. Three weeks old track with 1500 miles...radiator fans went all crazy spinning, read out showed coolant overheat, A/C barely working...opened up the hood, primary reservoir is empty. First thing I thought was a failed PDI (i.e. coolant was not topped off or something). So filled a gallon of coolant into main reservoir just to find out 300km later it is already half empty (engine cold). And stains on the ground (i have noticed them week into ownership and thought it is simply condensation). So disappointing...love the track and engineering on it, but I am coming off a Japanese SUV and that SUV was NEVER in the shop in the 6 years of ownership, except scheduled maintenance. Lets see what the dealership will do now...so far they have been fantastic when selling the track.

Update: dealership's service department has confirmed this is leaking heat exchanger issue and put my track in the same row with other 3 tracks with the same issue. It has been confirmed as well that part is on back order and will most likely take anywhere between 2 to 3 weeks to arrive. I am being put into long term Edge loaner. So dealership is great, but this is a really, really disappointing experience...

Frustrating for sure. Covid fallout? Poor design and/or manufacture? Never forget that it is thousands of parts and pieces assembled by human beings....

The heat exchanger is poor design/manufacture.

Definitely better numbers than a few months back on produced parts.

Good job on tracking this problem. I am one of the lines in your spreadsheet. I am looking at the numbers for parts released and backordered and think those are very big numbers which leads to other questions. Do you have any idea of just how many total of the Exhaust Heat Exchangers have failed? Has FMC done any redesign on the part? Are the failed EHE units being repaired and returned as replacement parts? Is it a design or a manufacturing problem?

No idea on how many failures, but from the parts shipping and on backorder, it does not appear to be just a few. @MrFarly had a Ford design tech come out to replace his new part the 2nd time, but no word on if they found anything or redesigned anything.

I do agree with @Snakebitten that the design of exhaust, metal and plastic seems to be a bit odd at best and subject to issues over many heat cycles. Maybe Ford has it figured, or maybe this is the first shot in the fight of the World Economic Forum calling for an end to private car (truck) ownership so as to preserve fuel and minerals. After all folks in London only use their cars 4% of the time. ?

The trouble with too many of the Greens is thinking the US is like Western Europe. In the time it takes to cross Texas along it's longest axis, a person could cross all of Western Europe.

Having lived in England and visited London, I would not want to drive there either. It is sort of like New York City where no one drives themselves. But here in North Carolina, we resent the Democrat gang trying to force us to use a technology that is not yet ready for prime time.

I know. I once crossed Texas. Entered on I-20 from Shreveport. I saw one road sign concerning El Paso. I forget the distance now, but it was forever. I got off the interstate and drove Texas back roads to San Antonio, then drove over to Fredericksburg, then to Ft Stockton and turned north to Carlsbad Cavern National Park in NM.

Eventually, I pulled my travel trailer thru downtown LA to Dockweiller Beach Camp Ground which is right on the Pacific Ocean.

PS- a side trip from Fredericksburg was to a crossroads town called Doss. Named after 2 Doss brothers who moved there from Virginia in the 1840's.
