Man, I have not seen this thread until today. I feel for you. I’ve had some crazy stuff happen to me buying new vehicles and dealers not wanting to act responsibly but this is unlike anything I’ve ever heard of.

As many have said, the biggest thing to me is how the selling dealer and Ford have handled this (or not handled at all). Simply unacceptable.

I hope you can enjoy the truck after you get it back and not have a mental battle every time you see it and think about the mess you went through.

So it’s been 2 weeks since the last post on this. I was just wondering if there’d been any more progress or if you had your truck back?

Not yet…they’re hoping to have it done this week.

You‘ve got far more patience than me my friend. I’d be knee deep with an attorney by now. I feel for you, in that it seems Ford and Granger have just washed their hands at this point and you are stuck trying to deal with all of the headaches. I have no words.

It’s infuriating! It’s been almost 12 weeks since I dropped the truck off at the body shop. I’ve made three payments on a truck that I don’t have and I’ve spent approximately $5k on a rental car without any compensation. Granger got their money from the sale and they’ve made warranty claims on the body work and seat. This has been the worst vehicle purchase experience that I’ve had.

It‘s hard for me to even comprehend that Granger and Ford could just leave you hanging out there like this, but sadly I’ve seen it before. It‘s not enough that they’re repairing it under warranty at this point, they should’ve been responsible for your rental through all of this as a common courtesy. It’s unbelievable to me that you’ve been making payments on the truck and paying for a rental with the hopes that you get rental reimbursement at the end. So if they decide not to reimburse you’re just out another $5K for something to drive while they repair your brand new truck, and that sounds completely illogical. I went through a warranty debacle a few years ago with a new Mustang that the dealer wasn’t wanting to repair under warranty. It had transmission issues from the time it had 800 miles on it, and was in the shop 6 times from then until it broke completely 20 months later at 11,000 miles. The dealer claimed it was abuse and after taking it apart decided I was going to have to pay $3700 for the replacement. To top it off, I said I’d just come get the car and they said it would have to leave on a rollback because the trans was physically not in the car and I would have to pay $1100 for the removal and diagnosis. Ford originally backed the dealer in saying they wouldn’t cover it under warranty due to abuse. Long and short $500 later for an attorney fee, the attorney and I walked into the dealership to talk to the GM about a lawsuit and 2 weeks later I had a Mustang with a new transmission. It’s sad that I feel Granger is taking advantage of the situation and you by the fact that you’re not local to them. This has made me lose a lot of faith in Granger because I’d heard nothing but praise for them otherwise. Seems like when the rubber meets the road and you’re not local, their true colors show.

The truck is painted, but there’s a trim piece that’s been on national back order that they’re waiting for.

No. The trim pieces around the top of the bed and on top of the tailgate usually can’t be reused. The local Ford body shop told me the same thing when I took it to them.
I contacted the rep from Ford today letting her know that I should have the truck back once the trim piece comes in and she stated that Ford won’t reimburse me for the rental unless Granger provides them with a Ford approved warranty claim. They can’t find a claim number in their system.

Granger Ford needs to step up. Zach is here daily posting about their great warranties, but seems to be leaving you in the dark.

Zach hasn’t responded to a single email or phone call when I’ve tried to contact him. I emailed Chip this evening asking for the warranty claim information.
I’ve now made four truck payments since I dropped the truck off at the body shop and I’ve been paying for the rental. It would have been much easier for Granger to replace the truck. I wouldn’t be dealing with this crap still.
