Hello. How are you?
Completed my first DIY oil change after 10,000km / 6,200miles on my 2021 2.7 Ecoboost Lariat.
Here are my observations / questions. Did it in -16C weather with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, Motorcraft oil filter.
Any questions / feedback welcome.

- Location of oil filter is fantastic.
- Location of oil fill and dipstick is challenging.
- That small O-ring is a pain, like everyone said.
- Replaced rings and lubed them in oil before putting back.
- The splash guard on the bottom is so cheap, if you live anywhere with snow you need to go with an aftermarket skid plate. Can anyone recommend one?
- Location of drain plug is a bit annoying and oil just gushes out on the the crossmember and underbody.
- Rhino ramps helped as the running boards are a bit low.
- My drain plug is red, some people have yellow? Should I replace it? Can anyone recommend one, preferably with a valve.
- Drained oil hot to the touch, let it drain for 30 minutes but it was still drip drip drip.
- Couldn't wait any longer.
- Filled 5L (5.28 qt). Ran the engine for 5 - 10 minutes. Let the engine sit and cool. Checked oil, dipstick is useless, as Pennzoil UP is so damn clear.
- Added remaining 700ml of oil once engine was cold.
- Reset oil life was easy
- Hats off to Ford for making this process easy (but messy)- I would rather spend the money on high quality oil over a dealership's labor. Total investment in equipment was around $200 with a combination of used/new from FB marketplace / goodwill (ramps, funnel, sockets, carry crates, measuring cup, jumpsuit, gloves).
Any questions / feedback welcome.
