Time to let the cat out of the bag..

CR Performance has just released their Stage 5 Turbo kit!

https://crpengineering.com/product/3-035-521/

CRP and I have been talking for a few months and I am happy to announce that I will testing these bad mamajamma's out on my 2021 Powerboost for them..?
..to say that I'm excited is a monumental understatement!

Stock turbo Specs:
Comp - 40.7mm/51mm 6+6 blade.
Turbine - 45mm/40mm 9 blade.

CRP turbo Specs:
Comp - 46mm/56mm 6+6 blade.
Turbine - 50mm/45mm 9 blade.

If Stage 5 is a bit too much, they also have Stage 2, 3, and 4's you can choose from..

Is the 3.5l engine built to handle the increased pressure or do the internals need upgrading?

The pressure needn't necessarily increase, a more efficient turbo can move more air mass at the same boost pressure by heating that air less than the stock turbo. But yes, there's surely a decent amount of safety margin built in to the engines.

Unless you chip it the boost pressure will remain the same as stock, however there would be a decent increase in cfm output meaning more fuel delivery required to compensate even on a stock tune, but overall gains would be marginal at best. You definitely need a tune for these to ensure the correct fuel and timing maps are applied to keep from running too lean or incorrect timing. It wouldn't make much sense to drop this kind of money on turbos and not have a tune applied. The stock internals are more than robust enough but what's more important, can the stock injectors handle the required output needed to supply ample fuel for these with a custom tune? Considering the kind of power the 3.5 eco makes with the Livernois tunes with stock turbos I'd wager they are.

That’s a great question. However, with him running stock, turbos, and nitrous, I’m thinking the short block should be good.

Are you running stock turbo inlet pipes?

Specifically the passenger side one is severely necked down and 2020 pipes don’t fit.

There is a bet going on his FB page as to when he throws a rod...but seriously, I agree and for my money it's great that @Tank is checking the robustness of our engines. Although I don't intend to performance mine out, he has allot of stuff that applies to us non-racing PBers who want to understand tweaks we may implement. Good stuff @Tank (don't throw a rod please).

If I lost a stock turbo before say 100K miles, I'd make this upgrade.

My question is, who is doing the tuning?

No, the stock injectors are not large enough to even supply my E50 tune and nitrous...
I have upgraded injectors sitting in a box waiting for the rest of the supplies.

And at the end of the day what's a person going to do with their oversized pick up truck? The guy in the mustang or the Corvette is going to beat you..
I already destroy Mustangs, Hellcats, Scat Packs, Raptor R's, TRX's, F-Type jags, etc...this newest upgrade will make it even worse..?
