It’s was $800.
Yikes, yeah honestly it looks identical to a Krown application which are $200 and that includes body & frame cavities. It does look sharp but Jesh that seems high for a temp treatment. Man I wish Krown would expand deeper into the US. Most fleet vehicles in CA run Crown, that’s where they started. I guess they have it dialed in to where they don’t need to charge much.

Well I get how you are using it. However at $80k these trucks are like lifetime buys. You can spray it by diluting 5% (as it says in the directions) and using a 1.5 gun nozzle to get into any cavity and with very even coats. My shop works daily on loom, wiring, etc. and we charge extra when that gunk is in our way. We also do full detailing and hi-end custom installs so pressure washing away gunk into our clean work space areas isnt an option.
Do you have any pics of a modern pickup whose undercarriage shows comparable coverage using Por15? Body off frame is all I’ve ever seen outside of chip brush spot treatments. A shop such as yours charges what, 2k-ish assuming prep is on par with PPF or ceramic no? What warranty do you provide?

I don't find the value in undercoating. Just my opinion.

I had my '94 Jeep Cherokee undercoated (Ziebart) the day it was delivered. Within 3 years I was patching floor panel joints. The rockers started to rust early too. By the time I sold it at 10-11 years they were half gone. Maybe some work great, but my belief is that some undercoatings trap water and salt, increasing the rate of corrosion.

After the Jeep experience I never allowed any coatings on the undercarriage of my vehicles, and never had rust through or patching to do. I just hose it down even in the winter and park it in the garage. Every vehicle that had to sit outside always rusted quicker and worse.

I believe the Line-X product also includes a lifetime warranty as long as you bring the vehicle back annually for no charge touch ups.

I did mine myself with Blaster Surface Shield. I plan to respray it every two years.
I used about 4 spray cans of Blaster Surface Shield. I am a huge fan of Fluid Film too, but it smells much worse than Blaster and if Blaster
lasts longer that’s great plus. I‘ll reapply in spring and probably every few years after.

I’m surprised no one on here is mentioning wool wax. It’s lanolin based, holds up way better than fluid film, and doesn’t trap moisture underneath like traditional undercoatings. I just paid a shop to apply wool wax to my 2021 since I live on the east coast with road salt. It came out perfect and I wish i had pictures but my truck is currently in the body shop. It comes in both clear and black and its non-toxic if you want to apply it yourself which is great.

I used Krown on my last F150 and on my wife car and I'm very satisfied with both vehicles. I'm going to go with Krown on my new 2024 F 150 with in a week or so.

Woolwax and FF is almost identical, my kit is a woolwax kit while I buy FF for it because it’s about $8 a gallon cheaper these past few years, I used to go back and forth, whichever is cheaper but it seems FF is most often nowadays.

It’s was $800.
I got a quote via email this weekend from a local installer, $899 plus tax. Is this a true one and done coating? And does it dry to a hard finish or stay on the soft side? It’s spendy but if the longevity is there, I can see the value. They said it’s a 2-3 day process, ( drop off on a Monday and pick it up on Wednesday), that your experience?
Thanks in advance

What do I use for undercoating? Street grime and the occasional mud puddle, mostly. :p

I’ve never really felt the need to add extra coatings. Of course, I also live in the mid-Atlantic where we get salt on the roads for only 2-3 months a year. Even still, my 26 year old Ranger is only now starting to show much rust, so I’m not too worried about it. For you all further north, I can appreciate the need for it more.

I just traded in my 2022 for 2024 F150 and the Ranger only saw two winters here in upstate NY. The frame was covered in rust. They use salt and sand mixture and a crap ton of salt brine solution here.

Can confirm. Things got significantly worse after they started spraying that brine solution on the roads before storms.
