I like it, but I hate that it is a menu settings and not a button near the shifter. I don't usually use it because my driveway is an incline so when I start driving I need to tap the gas pedal to release the auto hold, which puts the truck in a much higher speed than I need to drive off the driveway. I usually just slightly release the break to start driving.
So, if this was a physical button like in most cars...I would be able to activate it when needed: traffic light, traffic jam, etc. But "temporarily" activating it (and then de-activate) through several on-screen menus is a major PITA.
What are y’all’s thoughts on the “Auto Hold” feature? Menu setting from “Features” “Driver Assistance” “Auto Hold”. The feature that lets you take your foot off the brake while sitting at a red-light. You like it or not?
Love it. Would not want a vehicle without it.

More handy than not. For scratch and swirls (car wash) going to neutral before it fully stops prevents it from engaging. Can be a little annoying if you're austin powers maneuvering. A quick little slap of the pedal will unlock the brakes without imparting throttle.

Yep. Barely have to graze it to deactivate it and it doesn't lurch forward at all.

I don't recall it activating when I don't want it to. Then again, I never park nose-in unless I'm home charging my on board Noco battery tender or forced to because of a client's association/parking rules. Even then, zero issue. Maybe it's because I'm used to feathering a clutch from my cars back in the day and I just apply that method to inch forward. I have to come to a complete stop for it to activate.

I wonder if there's differing adjustments amongst our trucks and we luckily have it at a good setting? ?

I LOVE it! Once you get used to how it works and if you drive stop and go traffic a lot - it is wonderful! It is much smoother in operation than my wife's BMW version. Takes some of the stress off when you are in a lot of traffic. Never had a problem with how it works either - two truck with it - 84K miles on the first on and 56K on my current one.

If it didn't take so much throttle to disengage it I'd like it but since it does, mine is off, from early days.

I do like the auto parking brake though.
Mine deactivates when I put my foot on the accelerator ... I mean just put it there no pressure. It works great for me ...

I gave auto hold an honest try and didn't like it. Holding the brake has never been an issue for me. More importantly, I find being able to inch forward by simply releasing the brake pedal without having to touch the throttle very handy and quite natural in some situations.

Maybe it's just my truck, but the auto-hold feature makes the truck lurch back/forward in certain situations where I only want to creep. I have it turned off.

I wish mine did.

I won't say it delivers a whiplash type lurch but it is more than overriding the auto parking brake and more than getting past the auto hold when using adaptive cruise.

Maybe some of the widely varied MPG results? Some trucks produce different results?

@KingDavid @nvabill , I'm right and you're wrong. But guess what? I'm wrong and you're right. How so? Here's how. You can try this yourself.

Auto hold set to on, in drive, stop going down an incline, remove your foot from the brake. Auto hold will activate.

With your foot on the brake shift to neutral. What happens? Auto hold deactivates. This makes you right.

Hold on now, repeat this same test except do not put your foot on the brake while shifting to neutral. What happens? Auto hold remains activated. This makes me right.

The latter is what I did at the car wash. I stayed still while the car wash mechanism kept hitting my tire, retracting, and going under my tire. At the time auto hold was new to me. The car wash attendant told me to turn off auto hold. Problem solved. This experience trained me to turn off auto hold.

Your comments made me go test this on a hill. I've learned something new today. Auto hold will deactivate when shifting to neutral, but only if you physically apply the brake while doing so.

Hate it. I first came across it during a test drive of my wife's Land Rover Defender....couldn't figure out what it was. It adds an extra delay to get moving on top of Auto stop/start (which I also disable constantly) that makes getting the vehicle moving quickly in an emergency dangerously delayed.

These nannies are getting out of control, imo.

I turned it on when I bought the truck and haven’t once turned it off. I hated my last car where I had to click it on every time I drove it so I was glad to see this truck leaves it where you selected it

Just wondering why it’s so hard to just hold foot on break. All these features making drivers lazy.

You are correct, shifting to neutral while holding brake which I always do disengages auto hold and you get this message on the instrument cluster.

Now, do as you said and stop with auto hold engaged and take your foot off the brake. Shift to neutral and it stays on just as you say and you get this indication.

Slapsticking from drive into neutral will not activate Auto-Hold; it only activates to continue braking once the brakes are applied after coming to a complete stop. What you're doing is probably not the best way to treat a transmission, let alone one that's prone to problems.

Directly from the manual; "Note: When using an automatic car wash, make sure to switch auto hold off, or shift to neutral (N) with the brake pedal applied to ensure auto hold is not active."

*Brake.

Do you ever use cruise control?

If you want to kick on auto start/stop before you begin moving, just turn the steering wheel & the truck will start right up. I have it disabled thanks to my tune, and auto-hold doesn't delay a thing with start/stop disabled; it's how I launch from a dig when racing and when driving normally, the truck pulls away on command exactly like coming off the brakes and pressing the gas.

I agree with you there, but only for things that aren't optional like AS/S & cylinder deactivation. Auto-hold is completely optional.
