Maybe it's already well known, but my wife accidentally discovered an interesting "feature" on our Lariat Powerboost. She pulled up and hit the power off button to stop the truck. The truck automatically did the "here, let me put it in park for you" and started moving the gear shifter forward into park! :)

i have had a few arm wrestling matches with the console shifter. I think it gets mad if you go from one position to another and back and forth too fast. I am sure it is something I did/do as I think the whole electronic shifter is goofy. there is not enough positive feedback on where it is ( to me anyway) I have also had it decide to set the E brake on its own. again, probably cuz I was ripping and yanking on the shifter too fast for it.

I think the days of rocking your car out of a snow drift by going fwd-rvs-fwd etc are over, and obviously with 4WD I shouldnt have to. but even still, seems to me the guy that designed the center console shifter grew up with a Logitech flight sim control in his hand. The big 'ol knob for basically an electronic switch is dopey. time for Ford to just suck it up and go to a dial or push buttons.

I am slow and deliberate with the console shifter. It's now a habit to be so.
I remember the first time I ever used it I didn't get the feeling that it was robust and could take much abuse.

So I can teach an old dog new tricks. :)

It does the same when you open the door while in D
if your foot is on the brake you can override the auto to PARK
truck does not like it and lets you know in the IP clusters you are NOT in park and brake is off

but yes if kill it and its in drive, it will shift to park

i am on the side of its a less than robust item so i never fold it down.

Hate the feel of this shifter… Agree Ford should have just done the knob or some buttons. I‘ve had the random e-brake applied too. I think it happens when you go from drive to park too fast for its liking.

It feels like a toy shifter that should be on the Power Wheels truck the annoying neighborhood kid down the street from me has!! haha!!

My wife figured this out in our truck as well, I don't think I'd shut the engine off without being in park.

I put truck in neutral the other day to push my truck in my garage the last little bit because it barely fits and I don’t want to it the wall and it put right in park when I opened the door. If you put it in neutral and push the M button it will stay in neutral.
