Finally bit the bullet and did the Superlift 6" with King suspension from RealTruck. Got it on 4th of July sale for $800 off and free shipping. Also got some 22x10 -25 American Forces wrapped in Nitto Recon Grappler LT325/50/22s, mounted balanced and shipped free. $11,200 to my door. A few thoughts follow.
Superlift: The kit is well engineered with very tight tolerances. This was my first entire kit and I am pleased now that I have an understanding of the end result; I expect the front of the truck is stiffer now. The instructions were hardly adequate: tiny black and white photos; the section about cutting the frame is wrong; no "big picture" description up front. They do not have a website, a phone number or a YouTube presence that I could find, so you are on your own. I am of the opinion that this kit is better designed then the similar BDS kit.
King suspension: I did not know what to expect replacing most of the suspension with "off road" components. My truck is a mall crawler and I was more interested in a soft ride and better handling but no "on road" six inch lift kit and suspension exists that I could find. The truck actually handles better. Bumps are more noticeable, sometimes jarring. The truck is busier down the highway. If you hustle the truck the suspension really comes to life. Overall it is stiffer but it isn't displeasing.
22x10 -25: Required more cutting and trimming than I had hoped. The top corner of the bump hits, the crash bars hit slightly and the fender near the door also needs to be cut.
Recon Grapplers: I went with the LT tire because the speed rating was marginally higher. The noise is noticeable but certainly acceptable. Gas mileage looks like it will be poor.
Vendors: I contacted CustomOffsets, AmericanTrucks and @Realtruck all in an effort to do this build. I guess Amazon has spoiled me; I did not realize it would be such a headache ordering parts and having them shipped. I originally did not intend on the American Forces but apparently chrome wheels from China are impossible to get right now.
CustomOffsets was at least up front about this problem, though I was not pleased with the salesman I encountered.
AmericanTrucks listed the wheel I wanted as in stock, but I had called the wheel manufacturer directly after speaking with CustomOffsets and they told me there aren't any in the country. I called AmericanTrucks to confirm and the salesman there assured me that the wheels were in stock and would be at my door the next week so I placed the order, but I called right back and spoke with someone else who confirmed that they are not in stock so I cancelled. The initial salesman at AmericanTrucks managed to let slip that he was just ordering from RealTruck.
RealTruck was the better of the bunch and did a good job overall. Their website still shows the order as pending fulfillment. They updated the order with two separate "tracking" numbers that 404'd. The wheels were special order and would take 4-6 wheels to make and ship, so when I called back the next day to switch away from the LT tires I thought we had plenty of time. I called day after day and week after week, only to end up in the LT tires. My salesman was certain he had switched the tires but the order never reflected the change. I asked for a supervisor once and they told me the entire order would have to be cancelled in order to switch tires, which I believe is the ultimate truth, so if you order from them know it's a one-and-done deal: you better be happy with what you pulled the trigger on.
