There is no evidence that Ford intends to charge for feature use in FordPass.
There IS evidence that Ford put more effort into FordPass functionality for other vehicles, compared to the F150.

In fact, both the Lightning and the Mach-E have far less removed functionality in the conversion from 4>5 than the F150.

I rarely use FordPass with my Powerboost anymore since they long past removed the core underlying Bluetooth protocol, which was necessary for all the meaningful functions for me.

Yet I use it multiple times every day for the Mach-E and the Bluetooth supported functions are absolutely core to most of the reason for doing so.

I'm of the opinion that we will soon see new features being added back for the F150. And if just ONE of those features rides on Bluetooth? Then I believe we just might see most of what was stripped, as well as features that have never been in FordPass for the F150.

There's too much evidence that Ford is taking the hit to do what was necessary to abandon the platform V4 was built on. That was a pretty serious commitment and the flack that comes with it is right out in the open for everyone to see.
I think it is more likely the features, if they do get added back, will be for the newest vehicles only.

I primarily use the remote start and sometimes door locks. Couple times used zone lighting.

Ford doesn't charge us to use phone to interact with vehicles when other brands do. Even with a stripped down app I'm still happy for that. Being able to start my truck when I'm hundreds of feet away inside work is wonderful.

If they ever take away remote start you will still be able to do it from the screen inside the truck so it shouldn’t be a big deal.

Fords beta testing is an absolute black hole. I signed up to test V5 and sent constructive feedback regarding missing features on multiple occasions. Crickets. All of the missing features were reported by myself many times 2 months ago. Yet they still released it. Why, for some internal goal or predefined date?. Why would they piss off 3/4 of a million loyal gen 14 F150 customers, owners of there bread and butter money product. To cater to the EV owners? They've lost billions on EV'S now and need the F150 to keep the company afloat. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Ugh!

Google Play Store review score dropped from 4.1 to 4.0 so far.
Waiting to see if people go change past ratings. ?

If I were to judge based on this forum, Ford had already pizzed off 3/4 of the Gen1 F150 owners long before they ever released V5 of FordPass.

But it's probably not an exaggeration that there will be folks that will "never by another Ford product" because the app is missing zone lighting. ?

I want remote control over the vehicle. That's what the app first flirted with and implied a really cool direction. But as I have stated ad nauseum, most of those kinds of features would ride on top of a Bluetooth connection and the additional security requirements.

But if PAAK obstacles were deemed worthy to overcome, then obviously Ford has set precedent that they are willing.

As for the timing of moving to the new platform before having it further developed? If I had to guess a decision/timelime was set at sometime in the past to NOT to continue to develop and support two platforms. This isn't just a new user interface. It's built on all new backend too.

Not excusing.
Just explaining what probably influenced the timing.

Tbh the App could be deleted forever and I'd never lose sleep on it.

It does make some sense, especially if there's timelines they need to meet why the jump. If the new back end or foundation of the app allows better connectivity that's great but they should honestly just come out and say "hey you are going to lose a bit of stuff in the transition but we are working(or not) to bring the rest of the features over in due time.

Ford is the poster child of communication breakdown.

They honestly couldn't fail at it worse.

Trailer light check, PPOB status and zone lighting were all factors in my decision to order a new F150. They have all disappeared from the app and now I am regretting ordering the truck. Very sad!!! Im honestly thinking about not accepting the truck when it arrives in a few weeks. FORD makes me want to buy a Chevy.

This shouldn't be a problem, Ford says you can access these functions from the touch sreen in your truck. ?

All kidding aside, that sucks.
Lmao. Yeah they got the fix for everything on the touch screen. Lol. We don't need an app or key fob ....... everything is on the touch screen. I hardly ever use my app but it'd be nice if they'll atleast put the features of the old version on the new version. I mean dang I thought an upgrade was all the old stuff with a little new stuff.
Welp there's always the touchscreen lmao ? ? ?

Hi F-150 owners! If you recently updated your FordPass® app, you may have noticed it looks a little different. We are pleased to share that we have rolled out a newly designed app.

It is easy to use and efficient, reducing the number of steps it takes to access functions to help you better manage your vehicle remotely. Also, instead of having to hold down a button to turn the vehicle ‘on’, this is now a simplified slider.

Additionally, if you have an Apple Watch, along with lock/unlock and remote start/stop, you will also be able to use the following features from your wrist:
  • Activate horn and lights remotely
  • View vehicle location
  • View fuel level and range, for gasoline-powered vehicles
  • View fuel level, battery and range, as well as total combined, for hybrid vehicles
We are also continuing to improve in-app experience with this latest version. If you notice a feature you previously used before is no longer there, don’t worry, the feature can still be accessed via your in-vehicle touchscreen.

We love to hear from our owners so let us know what you think and if you have any questions about FordPass!

Please note: FordPass® App, compatible with select smartphone platforms, is available via a download. Message and data rates may apply.

This isn't the experience we want. Please respond with your phone number and closest Tech manager so we can look into this for you.

Don't forget send us your Vin and dealership so we can look into this for you. Lol.
Craziness they post that like they've just put out this app and everyone supposed to be happy about it but in reality it's a huge step back.
Then the 1 post then crickets .. maybe all the negative reviews and feedback will make them realize and "uograde" the upgrade

These are the exact parts of the app I'll miss. And, of course, the door open notification to catch the dealers in a lie.

I wouldn't switch vehicles over it. The truck is freaking awesome. But it is really short sighted on Ford's part!

Absolutely AWFUL  you call this an " upgrade" you should be ADDING content, not removing it.
did someone take a survey and get 50 respondents who said "i dont use that feature" so you decided to remove nearly every useable feature? or did funding get cut for the Ford Pass App group?
PLEASE put everything back that was there... and add the cameras view feature that I suggested 3 years ago!
why even have this app? its nearly useless.
