I've searched through the forum and have not found what people have done to fix this annoying noise. Driving down the road it doesn't matter the speed. When driving over any not smooth surface the driver door doesn't sound like its closed all the way. On the freeway its more prominent its right by my left ear that I can hear it. Its extremely annoying.. I took it in to the dealer on Monday for that and a few other issues. I told the advisor the door sound was my main concern. They had my truck for 4 days just to tell me they couldn't duplicate my main concern. I picked up my truck and heard the noise all the way home. I would love to take it back but I cant have my truck sitting there for 4 days just to have the same result.
Does anyone have an at home remedy they have come across? At this point ill fix it myself...

Whats the noise, rattling or air sound ??? If it's rattling it's probaly loose but if it's air sound probaly a leaking seal.

Hi there, Bailey! If you'd like to, go ahead and send us a private message with your VIN and dealer info so I can look into this door concern. Thanks!

It sounds like when you don't close the door all the and the weather seals sound like they are slapping together. Like the door isn't tightly shut.

My back door had an odd metallic sound when closing. The door striker was not adjusted correctly.
The dealer found and fixed it. Maybe something to look at.

Bailey, thanks so much for posting. I was wondering if I was the only one facing this.

I have the same issue with my 2023 Ford F150 XLT Black Edition. Less than 5,000 miles on it and sounds like I am driving a truck with 75,000+ miles. Probably worth repeating, a truck with less than 5,000 miles sounds like a truck that has seen its days. Cannot believe what I paid for this truck and for what I already experiencing.

Wind noise and annoying rattling. Like you mention, my door sounds like it moves up and down constantly, pulling away from the weather stripping and is not aligned. It is apparent to the naked eye but the dealers make no mention and could care less.

My truck has been to the dealership 3 times for this. First two, the notice from the dealer was they did not have time to look at and then when I reschedule a month later they kept for two days, no updates, so I had to speak with a service manager. They could not recreate, but whatever they did has made it more noticeable.

I know I am unable to do anything about it, truly wish I could start over in my with my truck purchase as I left a competitor and went to Ford. Never experienced anything like this with my previous truck. Only issues were due to wear and tear. It truly feels like there is an issue with the engineering side of things, doors are not flush to the second door, and movement of the door while driving. I have no Idea how this passes quality control or safety measures.

I am off to my second dealership in a couple weeks and we will see if anything comes out of it. Would greatly appreciate if anyone can share if they have had any success around this issue!

That is exactly what im experiencing. Pulling away from the weather stripping is a great way of explaining it.

I don't know how the dealer does not hear it. Its very very noticeable! I can drive 10 feet and hear the noise. on uneven roads its even louder, which i told the dealer and supposedly they drove 5 miles and heard nothing which i don't believe at all.

I cant keep taking it to the dealer for it to be there for 4 days and fix nothing. I'm waiting for some parts to come in for some other stuff so i will have them revisit the sound again.

Hopefully you have better luck at the next dealer! Keep me posted.

Hi Bailey, apologize the delay in providing an update. I have been to two dealerships, no answers. Ford Customer Experience Specialist has recommended a third dealership but I am unable to take my truck there as they do not offer rentals or loaners and are over 20 miles from me. The Specialist has told me they do not have a database they can search to see if there is a recommended fix for this.

At a bit of a loss at this point. At the second dealership I drove the truck with a Service Technician and we recreated the noise, both when I was driving and when he was driving. He said the only fix he could consider trying was pulling the door closer to the body with the swing arm. Once we were back to the dealership after the drive, the Service Manager indicated this would not work and said I need to go to a body shop. This was approximately a month ago and the door noise has become more pronounced and is happening more often than before. Like you and I have mentioned the post, the door is basically moving up and down and away from the weather stripping.

I have showed each dealership how the upper portion of the driver side door is not flush with the back door and the door becomes more flush as you move towards the bottom of the body of the truck. In my opinion, it is apparent it is a door alignment issue and causes additional wind noise, door movement while driving, and a door that is not secure which causes additional rattling on the inside.

If you or anyone has found any solutions I would greatly appreciate the information. Hope all is well and stay in touch!

Would you mind taking a photo to see how much off the door is? My door doesn’t sit flush and wanted to see if theres much difference than yours.

My driver's side door had some air noise and was sticking out a bit at the top. I adjusted the strike in about .03" and it fixed my issues.

Mine has this exact same issue. It started up over the winter. If I press on the door frame right at ear level it will stop (temporarily). Between the weather strip noise and the seat belt height adjuster thunking, it's driving me nuts.

How did you adjust the door striker? I tried this on mine but the striker plate is not adjustable. I tried to adjust it but the bolts are conical and force the plate back into the same position it was to start with.

Here are three pictures of the drivers side door. Let me know if you need these from a different angle.
