Anything erratic from flickering to a headlight going completely dark. Everyone may be worked up over nothing......just being cautious from previous experiences.
I just fired it up and ran through all the light settings and didn't see anything unusual. So tentatively confirming this update seems to be okay.

I am the same with my original ‘21 battery. It never seems to go below 80 SOC. I had one instance where I got a low battery message within about a month of purchase back in Sept-21. Since then, the only things I have changed was disabling the approach sense (so no more running board gymnastics or zone lighting activating whenever I walked by with the keys), I lock the truck immediately when I exit with the hope it will hasten the module power down process (this may not even be a valid assumption that it makes a difference), and I changed the SOC setting to 90 (default was 80) using ForSCAN. If I haven’t driven the truck for a few days, I will connect my NOCO 10 to a hard wire I ran down to the passenger side front wheel well. I have not had the same issues others are seeing, knock on wood. Mine issues have historically just been non-battery related things where OTAs were not even being scheduled for my VIN.

Like Rugedraw, I will still get the larger battery when the time comes for a replacement.
You are 100% right about (zone lighting activating whenever I walked by with the keys) I have disabled this a few weeks ago. This has a big load on the battery. I have been monitoring the battery with a bm2 battery monitor.

Yes, I would like to see if there is a way to monitor power draw when the truck is turned off to see the load as modules go to sleep. This would at least tell me if my habit of locking the truck immediately makes the modules go to sleep quicker and therefore reducing the battery load holds any water. I know when I don’t lock it, it is clicking and making noises for 5-10 minutes.

Same reasoning on the approach detection. When that is on, I would assume the module responsible for that stays active all the time when the truck is off.

My truck makes clicking noises even after it's been locked for hours.

Install an inexpensive Bluetooth voltage meter. You can monitor the voltage without disturbing the truck. And it logs the voltage continuously for you to review at your leisure.

I just put it on order. Hopefully its power draw to log the data 24x7 isn’t too high. I doubt it is or people wouldn’t use it….

Do you use this unit?

Thanks again!

Drove my MY22 XLT PB and got the message that OTA 6.5.0 is scheduled for download and install tonight (technically tomorrow at 1:00 am). Said truck would be out of action for 12 minutes.

We will see how it went when I get up tomorrow.

@Skier167. The BCM show is going down at 9:00 we'll see what happens in the morning! Did you update the Bronco and truck over the weekend?

Another crazy method to add to our theories to trigger an OTA. I just replaced my MotorCraft H7 battery with an Interstate H7 battery and reset the BMS and bam! There it is! Update scheduled for tonight. I believe it should be 6.5.0. Downtime is 45 minutes. I will keep the trickle charger on it tonight to keep the battery juiced up.

Good luck! Hopefully all is well in the morning for you. No I didn’t get to update yet, my daughter had games over the weekend. I see the ota train seems to be leaving the station again. I might give it a go this weekend since weather will be crappy.

Just make sure the hood is shut before you let the install start. Or the OTA will fail due to prerequisite conditions not being met. Good luck! ?
