Dear god YES! I hate when people use the word "custom" on canned tunes. If you didn't have it on a dyno, or send in data logs, it is not custom. It has to be customized to your vehicle.

I take exception to the "custom" tune label as well especially when I receive a canned tune despite asking for a tune for the specific fuel I have available, 93e0.
91-93 performance tune rev 7 in the file name tells me it's just the canned tune they've come up with for that ECU strat.

Furthermore the strategy that goes into creating these tunes uses the data from the worst vehicle they've dyno'd, not the best. That's the safest 'covering-their-ass' approach to take, which is again, not 'custom'. You can't custom tune without spinning the rollers on the vehicle being tuned.

I guess I’m trying to say, of course they canned it. It takes hundreds of hours to write the tune and validate it.
This isn’t 1995 hypertech chips. It costs thousands to develop a tune.

I wouldn’t want a $700 “custom” tune on my truck.

I would’ve liked it if they checked a log but I don’t know how much they rely on the ecm to zero it in. I haven’t played in this ecm so I don’t know what’s feasible.
Given the device's logging capabilities, at the very least they should have a logging program on it for the user to capture relevant data to validate the efficacy of the files they sent. This is easy stuff.

That’s true. A GM tuner I know that has a few 1/4 mile record cars does that. He charges $1400 and operates out of his garage.

A half decent programmer can write code to have one of the LLMs automate this process with human oversight. In-fact they don't even need programmers wasting time creating files, they just need to supervise the Ai writing them. This could increase their work flow 300% or more and possibly redundant an employee or two while providing faster, more accurate service.

Trust but verify. Contacted my state last week to inquire about having a gasoline's quality tested, particularly the 93 e0 I'm able to get on the cheap. They drove several hours to go and sample it not even 5 business days after I asked them how I can get a sample tested.

I really wanted to make sure the fuel quality was up to snuff instead of blindly relying on it. I wasn't expecting to get much from the state, but the director of the AG department promptly replied and not even 5 days later I have the results. If only the rest of the govt could function like this!

Anyone plugged in their MyCalibrator and updated from Windows lately?

I just got several client updates, along with some PID and tune revisions. Of course, I didn't get any screenshots though..

Loading the new rev 93 eboost tune in the morning. For science.

V8, but some of the rest of the naming convention seems to have changed?? I don' t know if I have a before pic though.

Either way, I've only put about 20 miles on it, and I can't tell much difference. If there actually is any.

There certainly was an update stream on several things after the last connection to the PC though.

Here's my dragy time. Launching at 1900 in sport mode. This was with 2.5" level and duratrac tires. I've since put larger tires and and rims which are within a few pounds each of the previous. Interested what I'm losing in time with this new wheel/tire combo.

I really wish I was able to get some runs in with the stock tires. I also have to take out all the crap from the bed (I have camping chairs and other random stuff like a few heavy hitches) and try this with less than a half tank of gas (it was nearly full). I was launching at 1700-1900 RPM in sport mode (ensuring the ICE was on) with 4a engaged and traction and advancetrac fully off. Full brake with the left foot, then releasing and full mash of the right foot.

I want to get into the 4's so bad (even with the 20 inch wheels and BFG ko2's), and I know its there.

Right there. Tow haul 4a and give the gas a bit before letting off the brake. That’ll do it

I ❤ BOOST SEASON!

Far too much dead weight onboard 6400lbs, but it's a truck. 34.1" LTs on it as well. Sport mode pedal mashing until boost registered and then pulling better than 1g peak.
