You noticed my teasing smiley face thing right? Maybe it doesn't mean what I think it means lol.

Anyway...*upfront tease alert*

Talking about N/A V8 torque, take at look at this beauty!

I mean that's still 110 lb ft less than I have, but not too shabby...

If the 6.2 GM didn’t bend pushrods and wipe cams every 7 miles I would have considered one :ROFLMAO:. It’s a really nice motor but man their DFM hardware blows.

I bet all that torque you have comes in handy when you're pulling a float full of dancers in the Key West pride parade.?

I crack myself up.
You know it Enrique!

Yeah, the putostar v6 is a pos. I don't know why people like them.

I have a gen 1 3.5eb in my wife's car. It runs neck and neck with my truck, but it's also 1,500 lbs lighter, and currently in the shop getting a new long block installed at 117k miles. Not impressive.

Transmission differences between the 6 speed and the 10 speed are really not that big of a deal, in fact the 10 speed is annoying as hell until you get used to it, but it does give you a better highway cruising overdrive. I just got rid of a 2011 5.0 myself. I liked the 6 speed.

What I'm telling you is the new 5.0 is faster and more powerful than your current 3.5, but it's not gonna lug up hills in the same way a boosted engine will. It runs differently, and will smoke your current truck if you understand it's not a low rpm lugger.

Just add throttle and enjoy the sweet sound of the most advanced v8 America has ever produced.

P.S. those bumps out east aren't mountains.

This is a mountain

.

So next time you're worried about how it runs at 4500 ft, remember that it has no problem burying the needle at 12,000ft. Uphill, and heavily loaded.
Dude, you’re preaching to the choir. I spent the first 25 years of my life in Washington, Arizona, Nevada, and California, trust me I know what real mountains are. My buddy and I used to walk our Polarises up several different mountains around Flagstaff, Prescott, and down in the Black Foot Hills near Oatman, Arizona. I’m getting homesick just from talking about it.

My Louisiana wife and in-laws on the other hand…. even a pile of gravel from a dump truck is a mountain to them lol. With that “putostar” (I‘m using that term from now on lol) minivan loaded with 4 adults and all our crap, those Appalachian bumps might as well be the Himalayas! Seriously, it’s got no freaking power at all, even at sea level.

Given my lesser experience with N/A engines on inclines at interstate speeds, I was just making sure the 5.0 will not give me even a fraction of the same drama as that minivan.

I would recommend a 2021+ 5.0
I was just in the Blue Ridge Mountains and I witnessed V8 trucks of all makes downshifting, revving, and slowing down while my PowerBoost climbed grades as easily as a 13 year old kid bounding up the stairs 3 at a time.

I crested a long grade outside of Asheville at over 90mph and still accelerating just because I could lol.

Wait, you would or would not recommend a 2021+ 5.0L?

If the PowerBoost didn’t exist I would have purchased the 5.0L. I think the improvements Ford made make it very competitive with the 3.5L EcoBoost in both power and economy. I made my purchase for towing and my order of choice was V8 over turbo V6, but 7.2kW and 570lb ft of hybrid awesomeness over all! Closing in on our first year of ownership, I love my choice and hope the same for you.

Your truck seems to think it's in Michigan?

I have 1st hand experience with this.
To the shop 3 times in under 35k kms with my 2015 Silverado 6.2L/8 speed with lifter /pushrod issues.
The 8 speed was horrible, had a highway vibe....and shitty paint.
Yeah I probably got a lemon.
i really like the 6.2L but couldnt trust it to leave town just about.
And I had the afm(or whatever it was called back then) disabled just about from new....still had the failures.
I'm on my 3rd 3.5L EB.
If I buy another F150 Ill probably go to the 5L just for something different.

I want a 5.0 pb.

Keep your silly turrboze.
Obviously, Ford's best engine designers have deemed their outdated Coyote powerplant as not worthy of the industry leading Powerboost technology.

P.S. BTW, this forum really needs a sarcasm font.

New guy here. To the OP, you won't have any issue with the 5.0.
I have 2014, 3.5, 4x4, Max tow, 3.73's from new. Currently has 255k miles.
I tow a 8k boat across the SW with plenty of grades.
My two biggest issues with it are, 1- it never got the mileage it was supposed to,
2- it will run hot pulling grades in the heat. The turbo kicks in with plenty of power, then EGT's heat up. When it's 110+ outside, it kicks the air off. I learned how to drive and handle it, but didn't like it.
Choosing a new truck I went 5.0 with 3.31's. This Coyote is pure joy with some music.
It'll handle anything you want and just keeps pulling. It does make it's torque higher up.
Just give it more go pedal. Myself, I like to hear it rev, just the kind of guy I am.
For mountain driving, put it in Tow/haul to keep the gears.
Two weeks ago I towed the boat across the desert with plenty of grades, total mileage for trip 12.8.
The family just got back from a 2200k round trip up through the Sierra's to Idaho, average for the entire trip 20.8. 7k ft mountains and all. Never an issue.

I'm sure the new EB's are better and more refined than mine, maybe they have resolved the heat soak. By design, the gas turbo creates a ton of heat vs a diesel.
I just didn't want to deal with it.

All that being said, I still have my EB and drive it regularly. Comparing the two, the EB is a little more Zippy around town. By product of the turbos and gearing I'm sure, It gives up nothing to the Coyote on the road.

Again, to summarize, The 5.0 will be fine, just different.

Mine has been parked at Dearborn since 6.2.0 too. Sounds like I'm not the only one.

3.5 has an advantage over the 5.0 at sea level and at elevation that advantage only grows. The truck makes 500 ft lbs of torque and at a lower rpm afterall.

That said, the 5.0 will tow in mountains just fine and it will definitely be fine without a trailer. Since the 3.3 is gone, Ford does not offer a powertrain that doesn't scoot. Everything they offer will leave a 5.7 Ram in the dust, along with a 2.7 and 5.3 GM. Only GM's 6.2 competes with the Ford 5.0 and 3.5.
