I'm looking to add the speed sign recognition to my '22 302A XLT. A fellow member here said the only thing needed are Forscan changes and suggested these

APIM changes
7D0-09-02 change 2nd digit 2nd column to 5 (TSR NCAP)
7D0-09-02 change 2nd digit 3rd column to D (TSR NCAP Enable)

IPC changes
720-09-01 change 1st digit 3rd column to 8 (SLIF)
720-03-01 change 2nd digit 1st column to 4 (TSR IOD)

IPMA changes
706-01-01 change 3rd digit 1st column to 4 (TSR)
706-02-01 change 1st digit 1st column to 5 (TSR Mode Camera Only)

He then got in touch and said :

I found out that for the IPC, the value you're supposed to change to an 8 should be a 9 to avoid disabling Forward Collision Warning (or one of its components)

I'm hoping someone might be able to verify these settings. My truck didn't come with Nav or front cameras if that matters.

Thanks

Below is what worked for me. My truck is a ‘22 302A that has the navigation and Sirius XM delete. If you don’t have a trailer tow package your 720-03-02 value may be different due to the “Trailer Sway” setting. C was the correct value for me (Max Tow) as it kept all of the factory settings the same and only changed TSR enabled. I did not find the TSR IOD setting at 720-03-01 to have any impact on the function of the traffic sign recognition so I omitted changing that line. For 720-09-01, even though you don’t have 360 cams there’s still a forward facing camera behind the windshield (rear view mirror area), that’s what’s used for the speed sign recognition and the forward collision warning.

IPC
720-09-01 xxxx xxxx 9x--
720-03-02 xxCx xx--

APIM
7D0-09-02 xxxx x5xx xD--

IPMA
706-01-01 xx4x xxxx xx--
706-02-01 5xxx xxxx xx--

Also, seeing as you don’t have Nav, if you’re using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and want to see the turn by turn info in your gauge cluster, you can make the below changes:

720-05-01 xxxx x1xx xx—
720-10-01 xxxx xx4x xx—

My ‘21 with Nav had this feature and I wanted it back. Most probably don’t know what they’re missing, but coming from a ‘21 it was immediately obvious to me.

Thank you Sir, being as our trucks are very similar this will come in real handy. Also appreciate the tip regarding the TBT on the cluster.

You ever come to Georgia let me know. Beers are on me

I don't see how a truck without the windshield camera can recognize a traffic sign.

There is a camera from my understanding. It's behind the rear view mirror behind the black plastic cover.

I believe he was originally stating that he didn't have the 360 cameras with the camera on the front grille.

I had the 3 month trial of connected navigation and the speed limit information still displays after the trial expired. However, it is not always accurate. Will enabling speed sign recognition override the navigation speed limit if it recognizes a different value?

What does this speed sign recognition actually do? Is this for adaptive cruise only?

I assume it would if you change the line in the IPMA that controls where the information is gathered from. This line would be 706-02-01. The first digit of that string controls where it pulls the information, with 7 being “fusion” which should take information from both the navigation and the camera (although it seems to prioritize the navigation, even if it is incorrect). 5 is for camera only. I had navigation on my ‘21 and the local roads that do not have a sign posted would default to 30MPH, which is incorrect as the state speed limit applies to roads that aren’t posted here in NY, which is 55MPH. My ‘22 has the navigation delete and I’m using 5 in that location and it works great other than timing out on I-90 unless I’m carrying a fast enough speed to catch the next sign before timing out. I’m currently trying to figure out if there’s another line to change to keep it on display longer.

It displays the speed limit in the IPC. Not just for adaptive cruise, it works when not using cruise control and is helpful if you happen to miss a sign that the camera catches, you can just look down at the dash and see what the limit is. You can also enable speed limit warnings and set a tolerance where the sign will flash on the dash if you’re exceeding the tolerance you set. I don’t use this function as I typically exceed the tolerance so I have the warning function turned off. You can control it by a toggle in the APIM settings under driver assistance.

Anyone know if this works on low-trim trucks like XL with the 4 inch dash screen?

Same as Rineland, it'll display the speed limit for approx 90 seconds then disappears if you don't pass another speed sign within that period

I tried making some changes to mine again last night and I am now in the same boat. I no longer have the speed limit on the center screen and the instrument cluster screen only displays when a sign is recognized and will eventually time out. I found a VIN for a '23 XLT 302a with CoPilot Assist 2.0 and it had a couple different settings for the IPC values. Going to try that tonight and see how it goes. Unfortunately, even if it works, it will only be helpful for those that have or previously had navigation.
