With Connected Navigation,
Are the maps automatically updated or do we have to physically update the maps?

There is no way to update maps via USB.

I would guess as long as you have a subscription maps will update when Ford feels like it. Haven't seen any posts anywhere with anyone knowing of maps being updated.

but i think google maps that it uses are updated pretty regularly
at least fro me i notice new stuff all the time on my maps from the new construction and road work
it pops up on the map
maybe its just google?

Only if using AA/Google maps.

I'm not aware of updates to the built in navigation maps yet. I don't think they released updates very often on last generation? I could see them doing a map update now after two years but that could be rolled into a APIM OTA for those of us with built in navigation.

Connected navigation maps are not updated as frequently as AA. I've driven to places that simply didn't exist in connected maps but did appear in AA. Most recently was a high traffic community centre arena that was built a few years ago but connected nav didn't even have it in the display as dirt roads.

In 2 1/2 years my maps have never updated. I’m still on the same version as when I bought the truck. In 6 months Ford is expecting me to pay $80 yr subscription fee to keep my navigation. Not a f’n chance.

The Ford navigation tries taking me on roads that were shut down prior to1917 when the government took ownership of them to build a military base. If they can’t update something that changed over 100 years ago, I have very little faith in how often they will update anything else.

I would really like to know what their map source is because I have never had this issue with Honda maps, Waze, Apple, Google, Navigon (rip), Garmin, or Tom Tom.

Per Ford, updated as long as you have a trial or paid subscription after the trial expires.

Sync 4 Systems

You will automatically receive map updates through Ford Power-Up software updates during your free trial and subscribed service periods**.

Full map updates occur once per year. Updates for the radius you drive most often occur quarterly.

I'm not aware of updates to the built in navigation maps yet. I don't think they released updates very often on last generation? I could see them doing a map update now after two years but that could be rolled into a APIM OTA for those of us with built in navigation.

I do know both @antho and myself have seen an update to our maps that shows a new major road built near where we live. The road showed up in maps about 4 or 5 months after the actual road was built. Meanwhile the expansion of my neighborhood that was built 2 years ago has yet to show up.....so who knows how and why these get updated.

@speedracercjr I randomly got another at some point. The roundabout by my house is now mapped. So it doesnt redirect me half way across the neoghborhood anymore. Had to have happened in the last month or so. No notification of OTA anywhere. They just kinda send it out without any indication of it happening.

i dont use AA or google from my phone
i do have the ATT data turned on, might be why its up to date
in my previous 21 250 i turned off the att data and my maps did not update

all i can say is my truck shows road construction speed limits, and construction that was not there a few days earlier, and now is on the trucks map.?

it also shows new driveways/roads that are cut in off the main road. it even shows road construction in my neighborhood /

so i assume it gets updates somewhere or some how
i figured its via the truck modem interface

Yeah maps are updated

I got my map update and Livnitup and a few others I talked to didnt. Now Antho got his maps updated and they are a revision newer than mine.

I saw no history of the download anywhere.

There are updates that have map files. So it could be possible to update via USB but ford has to send it out. So far my only map update has been OTA. I have had two updates in the time I have had the truck. I have roads that were missing I drive daily appear after time. Thats when I check.

Yep that's how Texas Heritage showed up, no notice at all just magically was there!

Thanks for all the responses
I have been directed to many businesses lately that are no longer at the location shown, causing me to question if they are updating. With my ridgeline I downloaded the files each year to a memory stick, then downloaded to truck
