Just got back from our trip to Granger.

The transaction was exactly as advertised and trouble free. Chip is great to work with, as were all the others involved. Prompt, courteous and helpful. Couldn't ask for more.

I'll take better pics of the truck later but for now, a couple to lock in some info.

Surprise. It came with running boards.

None of the pics showed them. None of them. Not the B&P site, not My Account at Ford, not Ford Pass. They are listed in the description of the 501a on the B&P site but are mentioned nowhere else. I didn't know for sure and neither did Chip.

But they didn't hurt my payload.

The tires on the 4x4 PB 501a are 18" GY Wranglers.

Intelligent Adaptive Cruise is a wonderful system. Its gonna spoil me, as will Assist 2.0. Took a bit to trust them but wow. They're almost freaky.

I don't have to tell ya about the power, or the effortless speed. Yes, I let it breathe a little but it's so fast, those times were short lived.

Even so ...

Love the customizable gauges.

Lots to learn. So many choices. It'll take me a bit to get it fully dialed in but I'm diggin it.

Thanks for all the sharing you guys do, that helped me make the decisions on the build and about Granger.

Very nice truck!

Though I'm biased in this case.

Except for color, yours appears to be the same as my 2021. Even the payload matches to the pound!

There is a reason for that my friend.

I found your post when researching payloads and with just a few tweaks, shamelessly copied your build.

All the research, documenting stickers, going through the options weights of the body builder's pages etc. was good and important but that was all sorta theoretical. Yours was hard evidence.

Thanks.

Wow - that's great to hear!

Now I'll wait for your first tow report!
That will be a while.

Have some fairly large and intense projects to finish up, before I get the camper.

Only bought the truck now, because I didn't like some of the proposals I'd seen on the 24s.

Yeah, it will sneak well beyond the speed limit if you're not paying attention. I set auto sign reading +10 and just let the truck do its thing. Smart man on the options -- Those are 3 base / easy options on the PB. Though with the lariat and 360 cams, you may have been able to skip the assist 2.0 and just add the radar in for ~$250 and forscan'd it as it'd have the wiring.

I picked up my Lariat PB from Granger the end of Dec 2022. I then drove over 1100 miles to get home. It was the easiest driving experience I have ever had. This thing is an easy cruising dream.

Keep your eye on the on the speed as doing 70 feels like nothing, even over some marginally maintained highways.

Wish I had looked into the Lariat trim when I ordered my MY22 XLT 302A trim. I was trying hard to save on cargo capacity. Of course, truth be told, I was trying to save on $$$ also.

I'm practically a charter member of the Oxford White club. Thats the nose of my 01 in the pic.

But learning about Granger and all the rest, that was very handy.

Doesn't it though. I had it set for 2 over, so most of the trip was 67. Boring is the wrong word for a vehicle like this.. Easy is more like it. Effortless speed.

And unless I had my foot in it, the turbos hardly showed themselves. When they started to peek out on long hills with low RPMs, I'd just grab a lower gear or 2, for a bit.

I did notice the skip second, trans thing several times but so far, no objectionable jerking.

There was some stop and go traffic. It shifts into second just fine then.

All the work you guys did in your research and publishing same, helped me.

This truck is a retirement treat for us. Its main job is to tow the camper. I get it, believe me but I'd have gone higher, if it didn't hurt payload so much. Of course in 23, with the deletes, higher doesn't really make a lot of sense anyway. The bendy lights and the massage seats, are the only things I really would have liked but one hurt payload and the other is NA so ...

How'd you get your payload so high for a lariat? Mine's a loaded XLT 302a package with 1553#. Also, You're right about the lane centering 2.0, it's almost blue cruise. I use a 2.5 lb ankle weight laid over one side of the spoke at the bottom of the steering wheel. I call it the poor man's blue cruise. You still have to pay attention just like with Blue Cruise except it makes driving in the wind or on long road trips amazing. Of course I'm sure it's not recommended, but if you pay attention it works great. Good luck with your new truck.
