On a regular ICE engine with an alternator, the trailer battery is charged through the alternator. However, as the PB does not have an alternator/generator per se, does the trailer battery get charged through the Li-Ion battery pack? Or, the small reserve battery? It's just a curiosity question if anyone knows.
Thanks.

Trailer batteries get their power from the 12V pin on the 7-way and works the same way on a PB as any other truck. Even on the PB the 12V side downstream of the starter battery is pretty much stock. The only difference is how the 12V starter battery gets recharged. On a regular ICE truck, the alternator provides the recharge. On a PB, the DCDC step down converter which sits between the high voltage hybrid battery and the low voltage 12V starter does the work.

Thanks for bringing this up @Docden. I’ve been wondering the same thing.
I tow a teardrop trailer equipped with a Yeti GoalZero “solar generator” (as stupid a name for a battery as I can imagine).
My 1994 GMC could easily charge the Yeti while towing in an hour or two, but reportedly that was not the case for some tow vehicles which seemed to be stingy about providing sufficient current at the 7-pin connector.
I haven’t tried it yet since getting our new F150 PB last summer and have wondered how diligent the truck would be in keeping the Yeti charged.
It’s not a question of capacity - the PB especially has more than sufficient resources, it’s a question of whether the PB control system manages it correctly.
It’s not an absurd question - we’ve all seen recent model Fords (eg Gen14) doing crazy stupid things.
So who has tried it and how well did it work?
Thanks!.

The limiter will be as you note, the control system but also the gauge wire of the wiring harness.

The separate DC to DC charging systems I've seen going from truck to camper, use heavy gauge cable. Way bigger than anything in the stock harness.

PB operates like any other truck in these regards. The PB has 500a of '12v' generation capacity. Nothing really phases it unless you want your AGMs fully charged :ROFLMAO:
