My hopes are that the tow tune gives you more hp/torque lower in the rev range, at the sacrifice of more in the upper rev range. I think I'd rather have that setup for daily driving.

Just a guess. May have to fire off an email to Livernois to see what they say.
The powerboost is the most powerful ICE F150 ever built. It was only recently dethroned in power when they put the GT500 motor in the raptor r. The 10 speed combined with a 3.73 in the rear ... it's hard to beat. Have you towed w/ the truck? I'm thinking not.

It sounds like you're thinking of tunes as a carb equipped vehicle or tuned intake runners. Tuning doesn't sacrifice one for the other. Now if there was a magic wand to increase fuel economy, that'd be great.

I am old school. Jetted multiple motorcycles after slapping a K&N and race exhaust on them.

Not sure if I should miss the good ol' days or not.

More timing and leaner mixtures will improve efficiency as well as power.

If from say 900 rpm to 3.5 rpm Livernois had advanced the timing and leaned out the mixture but didn't increase fueling, the engines would get better mpg.

Still trying to get a clear answer as to if something like this has occurred. When you call the tech line, the answers are incredible vague.

Anyone have warranty concerns?

Pretty proud of the self-control I exhibited, managed to hold off for like 2 weeks.

Tuner ordered.

No 1/4 mile runs for me, just driving around.

Looking forward to seeing how your everyday driving is affected. I drive like an old man, anymore. Hardly break 2000rpm, 2500 if I'm "gettin' on it." I don't see too much use in a tune like this but I'm open to being wrong and getting to spend money.

it wasn't well stated by me, however they are actually the same thing.
Why would you lean the mix, only to add fuel back in? It's redundant.

You can in fact increase fueling and air flow while simultaneously leaning out the mixture.
For instance, up top the Livernois tune almost certainly has more air flow, more injector pulse width, AND a leaner mixture.

I have the warranty concerns eating away at the back of my mind or else I would have pulled the trigger. My dad had a newer Lincoln Navigator and the transmission had to be replaced around 45k miles, under warranty.

I guess I have the fear that something catastrophic would happen and they would deny me a new transmission or something stupid expensive bc they discovered the tune buried in the codes.

That extra power sure sounds nice though. Must fight the temptation…

I do as well. Yet I always tune my vehicles nearly right away and this is the first used one I've bought in 20 years. But the risk remains.

My theory is that I drive them nice, and these drivetrains don't have a history of failures, and the leaner mixtures very well might reduce fuel dilution prolonging the engines life span.

Runs real nice on the Livernois tune. Shifts are a bit firmer after about 120 miles, maybe it has further to improve?

Power is certainly there but honestly, it's so smooth and refined that it doesn't feel that much different. To be fair I only drove my Powerboost for 3 weeks before tuning so my baseline wasn't dialed. It's just a fast truck, even stock.

Not seeing any mpg improvement at all, but that's fine and its prelim anyways. I've decided anything over 20 mpg I'm stoked with.

The truck does feel 'light' if that makes sense. It just feels so effortless getting up to speed.

Will report back with a more thorough review after a couple of weeks.

Yeah it really doesn’t upset the chassis or makes it feel much faster. But I think it is. Not sure if the size of the truck masks the speed

I've had to accelerate out of the way pretty quickly a couple of times, and she scoots away really nicely. 5-65mph is very useful, smooth & fast. It's definitely better than stock.

I'm jumping to mpg assumptions, not because I want to but because I'm changing a lot of things on the truck quickly (tire psi, fuel grade, bed cover, tune, oil, AT tires, then airbox in that order) so just don't get much time to assess each change and the long-term effects on economy. However, I generally find that all of my vehicles match my typical overall mpg average by the time I get to 100 miles, such is my boring duty cycle (i.e., same roads, same speeds, similar conditions, etc.).

When I first installed the Livernois tune mpg most definitely fell by 1-2 mpg, but I am also doing more full throttle acceleration runs and frankly I wasn't too worried about it. But now after 250 miles I'm noticing a pretty distinct uptick in mpg, at least matching my before tuned numbers. And the transmission is now getting better.

Not sure if there is some learning that occurs (obviously there is in the transmission), or if I had just managed to find headwinds on every trip I took for the first few days.

The smooth power delivery, low noise and size are factors. If you want it to feel faster, turn off traction control for some added noise. :D
