MY22 Adding SiriusXM

Great write up, i couldn’t get a good signal from using an inside ant. I switched the factory one and it’s perfect. Left the blue disconnected for now.
I added nav but as a side effect of adding the 12’ screen. Don’t really use it but nice to have I just don’t have search as I didn’t change the values in for scan yet.

Does anyone know what antenna the OTA updates use?

I don’t know for sure. I disabled all my communication stuff I could as I installed a Whipple and wasn’t sure if any of that over the air stuff could mess with the custom tune I have loaded.

it will still phone home to Ford unless you physically pull the plug. It’s easiest to access at the TCU. FordPass won’t work though.

So if you leave the blue cable disconnected will you still get OTA updates from Ford? Just trying to understand if I’ll be missing anything else beside the Fordpass and E911.

The blue plug is only for the GPS location feeding into the TCU. It will default to cell tower based location no different than if you were in a parking garage.

My MY22 acm already had the satellite connection, after the nav apim, I got a splitter and connected the acm. Forscan changes and it is working, now to get it registered.

For those that added a NAV APIM, do you have an accurate location in Fordpass? I'm trying to see if there are any configuration changes to get the GPS location that's supplied through the TCU on the non-nav trucks. From everything I can see the TCU is looking for a GPS signal. Worst case a cheap splitter from the GPS/Sirius plug on the passenger antenna to the dark blue GPS female plug would probably work in a pinch.

My truck (non nav/sirius) has C in this location. A casual check of one confirgured from the OEM with nav/sirius shows an 8 here. Might be worth a shot.

Part 18812C seems to inter connect the Left and Right antennas. At the right corner it seems to have a double jack (Possibly to except either a XM or non XM antenna?). it then wraps around the window to the TCU.

That’s just the extension for the primary cell antenna. It and the GPS/SIRIUS/Secondary Cell Antenna don’t interconnect on the way to the TCU.

If someone that’s added the Sirius antenna and nav wants to try changing the APIM as built as shown above I believe that should take care of the TCU cell based location in FordPass.

I simply changed out my antenna. The upper left corner of the cab has three connections. A maroon, mustard and blue. The old antenna was maroon and blue. The new antenna is mustard and maroon.

Behind the glove box I added the splitter. That connects at the mustard connector and splits to mustard (acm) and blue to the nav of m the apim.

That is what I was thinking. Just do not want to loose any other functions , since I am not adding Nav.
