Am I a bad person? as I sit here in built but not shipped purgatory I find myself looking at new arrivals at dealers around me.
I see a lot of 2023's showing up and I find myself going, I could live with that. My color of choice is Carbonized Gray. but theres a star white Platinum that just arrived that sure looks nice. I am set on a Lariat or higher , BUT. my buddy has a nice XLT with Katzkin leather that might even be nicer than factory leather.
But I really want the 4A transmission and the cooled seats. And there are things about the order I made I really want. like the 3.73 rear end. But then I think, gee this past few weeks of electrical grid problems maybe that powerboost isnt a bad idea. even tho I have no way to use the benefits. and my power never went out. BUT...

Either way, I find myself thinking, maybe I should go look at that truck, but I feel like the minute I do, my mirage truck will appear. I dunno. think I 'll have another bourbon and surf some more...

I wanted a ingot silver F150 when I decided I was buying my first new vehicle in 2015. I convinced myself it was silver or nothing.

Then I got a magnetic F150 when I was convinced I would not get a better deal on a new truck.

I have to be honest, I regretted not getting silver, but life worked out with the dark gray.

This go around I ordered and was patient, my patience paid off.

It’s much more personal imho when you build and order to certain spec imho, I’m not saying don’t buy off the lot, but if you really want a specific feature with a specific engine in a specific color, just wait, you won’t regret it.

Like above, I wouldn't settle for anything less than what you want. That being said, if you find one on a lot with all the options you want but maybe a different color then I'd consider it. I actually did the same thing and got to enjoy the new truck a whole 7 months earlier than if I waited for my personal order.

Come on, we all know that's the bourbon talking! After a tour in Korea way back when, I can tell you where talkin' bourbon (in my case, gin) leads to! Don't do it!

Damn !! you saw right thru me! OK, all valid points. I have to wait for what I ordered/want.
but no denying there are some noce looking trucks being delivered to people and dealers.

I have to be patient, I am not really in a rush. I must wait !!

i dunno about you guys down there but there is a huge price difference between a lariat and a platinum up here! not sure what you have on order but if it’s exactly what you want then I’d wait!

when I ordered I had the funds for all the performance goodies I wanted (engine, drivetrain, 4x4 and etc) but not for the interior so I had to go for an XLT. At the end of the day my wallet thanked me (because 4 years of payments is a long a$$ time!)

I walked away from my built and got an almost identical one at another dealer lot. Sometimes what we want may not be what we need.

A high spec lariat and a platty is not that far apart in price.

i had a 23 on order, ended up with a 22 instead , the 22 had two options that I did not order , unleashed and smart hitch all other options the same.. the 22 is black instead of the blue I ordered, I am glad I have unleashed and I really like black and not missing the blue… plus I saved a bunch of money going with the 22 , amd I have a heated wheel which my 23 would not have.
I am glad I made the switch, sometimes a little change is good.

thanks for all the thoughts. I am going to wait. the Plats I see are about $10K higher than the Lariat I ordered, and that is a chunk of change. plus I have to keep telling myself I am not in a hurry.

See you are in the "middle ground". The bourbon is talking in your head about what the neighbor has, the problem is that there just isn't enough bourbon. More bourbon and you will forget about the others and waiting for the perfect truck will become easier.

this is good advice, I must have more bourbon, and whiskey, with and without the E, small batch, single malt, aged, rye. wheated. pot distilled, column distilled. these things will help me to forget the nice trucks being delivered and allow me to concentrate on bourbon, er my truck
