Sadly not the first time I’ve heard that from a service department on this issue…they forget to always try the simplest solution first..

I watch a ford master tech on YouTube…check this one out about 5:45 timestamp
Ford Boss Me is a straight shooter and has some great content on YouTube. The fix Ford is providing to dealers for the under hood fire issue he mentions seems super sketchy to me though. Chasing down an electrical gremlin is hard enough. Doing it with a bunch of additional splices makes it even more fun.

Yea, why would a failing component of the electrical system be causing an issue with the electrical system?

I hate it when dealers/service department employees act like they already know everything.
Exactly

Funny thing is the dealer told me it will take a full day to diagnose a better. Wtf ??? And offcourse ford never gives free rentals. I get we all have issues but this is ridiculous. My truck is. 2022.

Yup. Same here. Except they’ve already had it 2 days…..lol. At least we have Uber.

And treat us as if we know nothing. Us consumers are informed and know much more than they think.

I can't do it.
I mean I can't deal with dealership service department. It's not just Ford either. The arrogance and apathy is widespread.

It was NOT always this way either. (I'm an old man. I remember when you could actually talk to the mechanic, who is now the technician)

Anyways, those 2 days sitting at the dealership, (probably out in the parking lot) are worth more to me than the co$t of a battery. I'd at least throw it on a charger and confirm that the truck is just fine with a 12.X volt charge. I'm 99% convinced it would be. And if the battery can't hold that charge, well.......... again, how much time and effort is it worth to get that same dealership service department to actually fix it?

I understand the principle. You shouldn't have to buy a battery that's under warranty. But that new truck is way too awesome to let them steal the joy of new ownership.

Note: there ARE some good dealership service departments that treat their customer well. I don't have access to any in my part of the world though.

got the truck back today with a new battery. Got it home, parked in the driveway. 2 hours later. Same issue. Multiple errors, wouldn’t start. Sigh…here we go again.

Let me preface this by saying that I am old school and my experience with cars originated in the late 80's and early 90's. I understand that technology has evolved a great deal since then however, my suspicion is a parasitic drain and I would focus on what may be causing it.

That may be the issue. They said they checked for a drain, which was why they kept it in the shop.

maybe un-related. The issue seemingly started when someone showed me how to turn on the zone lighting from the app. No idea if that has ANYTHING to do with it or not, but it started the day after that feature got used.

Isnt there an update for zone lighting draining batteries? This sounds very familiar

Thanks. I checked and button is off. I’ll mention this to dealer though.
