Man I hate reading things that confirm what we all know to be an all to unfortunate reality of dealer visits. An brand new $80,000 truck is no different to them compare to wrenching on a 20 year old beater Taurus.

The beauty of FDRS is it gives you the blow by blow, no excuses. Great way to identify which dealer is qualified and truthful so you know if you can work with them. Everything else is like buying a lottery ticket.

I wish all visits gave the kind of visibility FDRS affords, even if after the fact.. Short of putting in web cams so we could supervise and only intercede when we see something about to go wrong, dealer visits will always be a lottery to see if it comes back in the same or better shape compared to when we left it.

Hi, a friend on the fire department has a vcx nano that I can borrow. I have the APIM stuck issue that @Jesse-Infotainment has been trying to help me with. If I get this, can I update other modules at least? I have a June 21 build and am stuck on 1.7 build. Are there module updates to avoid like CCM with the Nano? Thanks.
@JEB helped me with this as well. After reading about the issues, I bit the bullet and got the Mongoose cable instead.

Ugh, $500 is a big pill to swallow.

Ford should include one in the glove box as an option when you purchase the truck. It'd feel like a lot less sting. :)

I fixed it! ;)

When I filled out my Ford survey, I actually said they should include one due to dealers either not able or willing to provide updates, or at least until they have fully sorted OTA and software provides full function of onboard hardware.

This question isn't F-150 related, but still FDRS related:

Is there any reason to believe the actual process of updating the modules in my wife's 2020 Explorer ST is any different than that of the F-150? Obviously the nuance of potential issues with updating certain modules would be different, but I imagine the process is exactly the same.

I plan to tackle both of my vehicles next weekend, and just want to make sure I am prepared. It may be an easy task, but that "fear of the unknown" is real.
Are you sure the 2020 Explorer ST supports firmware updates? It doesn't appear it gets OTAs, but I supposed some of the other modules might be upgradable. As long as FDRS finds modules for it, you can update without many issues. I do my F150 and MachE at the same time

Yea I had someone else look it up for me previously in this thread. It’s somewhere around page 414-415 I believe

It needs something like 14 module updates and the dealer didn’t update them even when I went in for warranty work, and even after they told me they did software updates

What version of FDRS is everyone running? I updated to 33.5.3 this morning and now the login won’t work. Used to be a pop up but now it is a website. After I enter my user and pass I get a new website that just says error, under maintenance.
Should have logged in before I bought my license. Now the clock is ticking.

Friday morning is unusual for that, but now it is saying it can’t contact the servers and won’t even try a login, so that jives. I guess I just got thrown because the login style has changed and I assumed I had screwed something up.

This happened to me a week ago and once more before that. Just change your password to something you haven’t used before. It should work then.

It won't even let me get to the login screen anymore

Edit: reboot brought me back to the login screen. Changing passwords allowed login.

Does anyone have insight into why FDRS writes files to the USB drive so slowly?

I don't. But it's so strange.
It would make a little sense if it was downloading/writing simultaneously?

But it's not. It's an isolated step in the work flow. Kinda makes springing for USB3.x hardware meaningless. :)
