Active steering , is only on Platinum, Limited, and some King Ranch. I thought the same thing until I checked the sales brochure. It changes the effective steering box ratio at different speeds. Makes it less turns lock to lock in parking lots.
Gotcha, thanks, I thought that was called adaptive steering, so I wasn’t sure what active steering meant

Ya only heated wheel equipped trucks come with the right SCCM. Don't waste your money!!! Just get one second hand like I did, $130. Here is the listed I just snagged those pics from. They're even very modular so you can remove the power telescoping controls and even put your turn signal stalk right back if you want.

Question, when you swapped out your SCCM what did you do as far as software. I can only think you had an fdrs license and did a pmi on it, then made the changes to as built to enable the heated wheel in forscan.
Was there any factory preload on the unit or was it blank of software?

Following this thread closely. 2022 F150 Lariat 501a here. Wyoming winters make for cold hands. Heated steering wheel and the digital temperature readout on the HVAC gauge cluster were two things I really missed. Also missed the ratcheting headrests but already addressed that. I'm a little concerned about doing the wiring myself (i'm a tech guy, not a wiring guy), but I've ordered the parts you all listed here.

If this works out well, my next mod will be heated rear seat retrofit...

Huge thanks to all of you for blazing this trail and helping us all out

You just need Forscan and copy over you asbuilt from your current SCCM to the new one, then enable heat as well. A second hand one will come with all the asbuilt out of the donor truck which you don't want.

Actually this mod is very easy wiring wise, only need to add two, power wire from the BCM to the SCCM then a ground, the rest is just swapping components pretty much and programming.

Dido on the ratcheting head rests, especially the rear ones, that's why I stole them out of my 19 before it went back ?

@superfordman did you also change out your HVAC module for the one with the heated wheel button . Or are you just running with the apim soft switch?

Nope, even a second hand one now is $450+ since all the 22 guys want them seems like, so just using the APIM screen switch right now

I have a 22 xlt reg cab 8inch screen and I’m trying to do the hsw icon on screen and on vehicle type on the apim module it does not call out superduty, can someone please help me on this. I’ve already got everything on the way sccm was purchased on eBay used , raptor steering wheel, and all the pins and connector to make this work

I got one off of eBay for $320, and it had the digital temp readout, there was another I found that I think was $180 that had the heated steering whee button, but no temp readout

with digital temp readout:

without digital temp readout:

I'm trying do do this by the book and I haven't started yet, but I read you are to discard and replace the steering wheel bolt.
The part number listed earlier in the thread was W721079537 this is incorrect. The 5 is an S
The correct part number is W721079-S437

From manual below.

(NOTE: Make sure the tick-mark on the end of the steering column shaft is on the top position. Remove and discard the steering wheel bolt and remove the steering wheel. Torque : 46 lb.ft (62.5 Nm))

So just to be clear I have an XLT. I’m thinking about adding the heated wheel. You can’t get the hvac controls they have heated wheel without also getting the AC seats buttons right? So in that case I would be able to just have a soft button on the apim thru forscan?
