Letters and notifications had already gone out so now it's a waiting game.
I never got the letter. Just the notification in FordPass. The recall notice stated they were supposed to go out last week. Did anyone else get a letter?

I still think it is likely the trailer module problem is hardware based not firmware and Ford is trying to avoid replacing all those modules.
I see it the same way. And I suppose it's possible that Ford still doesn't fully understand the problem. I feel sorry for the dealers caught in the middle.

Anyone know if you can unplug it and install an aftermarket option?

Based on my informed delivery email this morning, I'm getting a safety recall notice in the mail from Ford this afternoon. Since I only have 2 recalls open and already got the paperwork for the one (driveshaft insulators), I'm assuming it's for this. Others may be getting them soon too.

I just got my letter today.

Basically says it is half a day to fix the trailer brake controller free of charge.

I'm not clear on if this is a software fix that can be updated via FDRS, or if there is hardware that the dealer has to fix as well.

Got my letter for the recall today in the mail after getting notice in Fordpass 2 weeks ago. My truck is at the dealer right now and they are telling me that my TRM module is up to date with the recall software fix version. I know the guys at the dealer are in the dark from Ford about what is really going on so it's not their fault that they don't understand all of this. I applied the early February update myself. When I went today, they told me there's no update available in FDRS. I already knew this. I talked to the guy yesterday and questioned if the software has been released. He assured me that it was available, and they would be able to do the recall. I'm more pissed off @Ford Motor Company for sending recall notices to the house that say contact the dealer at once to schedule an appointment. So, I schedule the appointment and will end up having to go back again. If I apply the update myself (once released by ford) will the truck as build update the mothership and clear the recall from Fordpass or will I have to go to the dealer anyway to get the recall cleared from my Vin?

Just discovered this thread AFTER scheduling appt with my dealer for next Monday, May 2. Hope to God there’s a fix by then - supposed to be taking a 7,000lb camper trailer into the NC mountains next weekend.

I received the following in my appointment confirmation. Is 22S17 the correct repair? If anyone can arm me with some specific information to guide the technician to be sure they're doing the correct update (not the February one), I'd be grateful. Towing my camper next weekend (hopefully!!)
