Ok Google - Engine Start

Might be old news but did anyone know you can use ok google to start your truck by setting up routines within ok google? I sure didn't...

I find this easier to do on the cold mornings than opening the app and waiting for Ford Pass to load. For someone reason on my phone the app opens slowly or the app just restarts. Now I just say "start my truck" and it starts and I can "shut off truck" and it shuts off and doors remain locked.

I created an easy phrase "start my truck" by making the changes under "routines" in Ok Google settings. Then you don't have to say your pin everytime to start.



Once you login it'll tell you to create a four digit pin that you'll have to give everytime to start. But to override this create a "routine" in ok google settings under "routines". Then under actions type "Ask Ford Pass to start engine with pin XXXX" under starters put "Start my truck". Add same thing but to shut off truck. Then you won't have to enter the pin anymore.



Anytime you want to start the truck from here on out all you have to say is "start my truck".

Very cool. Back when my truck still had a working modem I'd use the Fordpass Alexa skill often. "Alexa, tell fordpass to start my truck" was handy!

So glad to see this thread. I had assumed that it would only work with Alexa but following these instructions I successfully set it up with my Google Nest - including the routine.

Will make it that much easier to start the truck tomorrow morning when I need to leave for my way too early flight. Perfect timing. ?

I think I need to actually link Home with Fordpass and don't see where to do that in the instructions. I see where apps can be added and there are a couple hundred there, but fordpass isn't listed. Suggestions ?

Hmmmm....try this.

Without going into okay google settings. Say "OK google link ford pass app" or "OK google start my truck engine with Ford Pass app" it should bring up a screen to log in to link Ford Pass and Google.

If that fails...try this.

Under settings for ok google...scroll to bottom and look for "your apps". Find Ford Pass "let your assistant choose this app".

I do not have a facebook account so that doesn't need to be done.

I'm kind of at a loss. I'll do some digging work has me off for five days at home bc "covid" lol. So I got nothing but time on my hands and will let you know.
