No issues for me to add here. Here's a shifter tidbit....If u shut the truck off in drive it will put it in park for u!
But wait, how does it know I didn't want my truck to take off and crash into my house next time I start it?!? I should be able to CONTROL it how I want! My car my choice...Here's a shifter tidbit....If u shut the truck off in drive it will put it in park for u!
It’s -6 degrees where I’m at and my doors sometimes won’t close when it’s below zero. I literally drive with one hand on the steering wheel and holding the door shut with the other. No issues for me to add here.
But I'll add another shifter tidbit.....if you open the driver's door while in Drive with your seatbelt off, it will put itself into Park. Nice safety feature ?
The same guy said he didn’t know what position it was actually in and probably didn’t realize it is always at a little angle. I wouldn’t put any stock in this at all. There hasn’t been any proof.I originally ordered the 2021 XLT Sport, but the same day I paid my deposit I saw a YouTuber doing a first week owner review mentioning that his fold-down shifter was acting up.
He said that it wouldn’t go all the way up but only happened a couple of times when he first got the truck.
I immediately emailed my dealer and had him switch my order to an XL STX.
I’ve had my fair share of those kind of issues with my 2018 XLT to know that this shifter thing is gonna be a real problem.
One of my biggest issues has been with the cold weather door thing but at least with that you could still drive somewhere. But if your shifter decides to not come up one day you’re not going anywhere.
Just wondering if anyone else has had any surprises with their fold-down shifter.
It moves itself. All jokes aside, when you say "put itself" does that mean it mechanically moves the shifter to that position, or just internally puts it in park without updating the shifter position?
Because the knob moving on its own kinda sounds dope as hell...
As long as you have your seatbelt on it won't auto-shift itself into Park. It’s -6 degrees where I’m at and my doors sometimes won’t close when it’s below zero. I literally drive with one hand on the steering wheel and holding the door shut with the other.
Does that mean if your truck had this issue you wouldn’t be going anywhere as the shifter wouldn’t move out of the park position?
No way man, now you have to tell meAs long as you have your seatbelt on it won't auto-shift itself into Park.
I could also say something snarky about your cold door not freezing, but I think I'll leave that one alone. ?
No way man, now you have to tell me
The cold door issue is on my current truck, 2018 XLT.
Actually, just edited my previous response to;
" I could also say something snarky about your cold door not closing, ...."
Several snarky comment came to mid, but I'll just drop one on you since you asked for it....
"Sounds like you need a new F150, but I see you already have one"
In all seriousness, is this really happening to your new truck?
If so, I'd definitely take it back to the dealership for a fix.
I live in North Dakota (aka Canada's drunk uncle in the basement), so I can relate to the cold/snow.The cold door issue is on my current truck, 2018 XLT.
But this issue has been around since at least 2011 and they still haven’t come up with something to fix it so I wouldn’t be surprised if some 2021 models in colder places like myself have that same issue pop up.
My dealer says my 2021 truck should arrive in 2-3 months.
Lol drunk uncle in the basement. That was awesome.I live in North Dakota (aka Canada's drunk uncle in the basement), so I can relate to the cold/snow.
A little over one week in, my new F150 has had zero issues at all....freezing cold related or otherwise, so I'm confident you'll be able to drive with both hands on the steering wheel again.![]()
