MCPZ-18A886-A appears to be a shorter "rubber ducky" style antenna based on what little info I could find on it...

Thank you for looking into it further. Hopefully Ford's parts department will catch up to their assembly lines soon.
Agreed, ford parts has terrible images, thats why they call the DC to get a visual. Bronco sport has a cowl mounted antenna, I think hard top Broncos have a roof top antenna as in your view

Hi All

So I went to my local dealer on Friday, the parts guy was very helpful but, I still don't have an answer on the part number for the shorter flexible antenna.

The 32" whip antenna that came on early trucks is MCPZ-18813-A based on my vin number.

He then went pulled up the VIN for a truck on the lot, late July build that has the short flex antenna, and it shows the same number MCPZ-18813-A so he called the Ford north east distribution center to get a visual on the part. The parts center confirmed its a 32 inch antenna.

In the mean time the other parts guy was intrigued and started investigating himself. He believes it's the same as supplied on the Bronco sport MCPZ-18A886-A although it can't be confirmed to fit the F150 in Fords parts system. Again he called for a visual but they didn't have one to check its on backorder.

They have ordered a MCPZ-18A886-A Bronco sport antenna for me and when it comes in a week or two we'll check that it's the same as the current F150 antenna.

What is the AL3Z 18813 A antenna? Googled it. Looks like the shorter antenna.

The prefix on that p/n "A" is the model year code "A" being 2010 model year design "L3" is
F150 / F250 product line. "Z" means service parts. So AL3Z-18813-A was designed in 2010 and used in production until late 2020 on all ford trucks. AL3Z-18813-A was superceded early 2021 with MCPZ-18813-A which is functionality identical to the older p/n. It's a 32" whip antenna. Parts designed in 2021 will all start with "M" and each year is the next alpha letter.

You are correct, the AL3Z-18813-A is the old style that superceded to MCPZ-18813-A, so If anyone with an early build 21 orders a mast, they will get the new style.

Excellent news then! What is the total length of the new antenna? Someone mentioned that it was shorter than the original/old version. I currently have an aftermarket 27" that just barely fits in our underground parking garage, if this is similarly sized I would like to swap back for OEM. Also, could you post a photo of the rubber base in action? Is it simply reinforcement so that not all the stress is focused on the base, or does it actually flex at that point? If it does flex, is it still rigid enough to still support the antenna upright when driving at highway speeds, etc.?

Thanks for all your help in this.

It's 27 in. long. The bottom 6 inches is a hard flexible rubber that has some give. I have this one on my 21,built 8/6 , and have been thru 2 car washes with no problem. At highway speeds it does flex back a little but goes back to normal at around town speeds.

My July KC build Lariat also has the shorter antenna with the flexible rubber base. The antenna wire has a spiral wrap around the rod. It works fine and I like the lower profile. I think the newer antenna would be a good swap for those that have taller antennas and would like a lower profile but need to pull in the weaker radio stations.
A word of caution regardless of antenna or age of vehicle… NEVER leave antenna attached to the body of the truck. The horror stories are out there complete with pics that dictate the need to remove antennas if you use a car wash with the big brushes and slap chamois. It’s not a case of “if” but “when”. I use the “Touchless” bay once a week in the winter and once a month when there’s no salt on the road. The Touchless also has a wider undercarriage spray which I find has better coverage getting the snow, ice and salt washed from my 2011 F-150. I live in Ct where they use salt instead of sand and I traded it in this year showing no salt damage on the underside. That wider underspray is reason enough by itself to stay clear of the big brushes!

I don't often encounter parking garages, but when I do, I'm glad that the antenna hits first because the next shot is the roof of the truck! I know I wiped the cab lights right off the roof of my Superduty one night in NYC. OUCH! It wasn't pretty.
Thanks for all your help everyone!

What is the cost of the new antenna?
