Well, here's the final outcome. When I took the truck back to the dealer, they wanted to work with Ford on the rust issues. After about a week, the dealer told me Ford had declined to take the truck back but the dealer said they would take it back with the hope of getting Ford to change their mind and locating me another truck. The truck had never been titled and my check had never been cashed. I made sure to request this at the time of return. I'm feeling beyond happy, blessed, lucky the dealer did the right thing. I'm looking forward to getting another Platinum soon enough with this dealer or another, whatever it takes. I'll be damn sure to do a thorough underbody inspection this time around. I know there's lots of threads about these issues but this one was completely over the top and obvious salt damage beyond the usual rusty axle. Hopefully, this inspires others to give a thorough underbody inspection and avoid the issues I've had to deal with. Major stress for that week of not knowing!! All good now though!!
That is amazing really and that is a good dealer too. That being said, you should try your hardest to buy the other truck from that dealer which would ultimately help them like they are helping you.

I found a lot of cancer under my 4 day old 2025 Platinum. Initiated conversation with sales contact by questioning if Quality is no longer Job #1 here at Ford. Agree with earlier comments that the rear differential was likely sitting out on a pallet for months or years, but whomever the Mechanical Engineer at Ford is that spec'd the paint, or the QA folks at the plant failed at their job.
If nothing else, I would want Ford to let me use their shop lifts to perform the cleaning and painting. My 10 year old Ram 1500 Ecodiesel Limited edition had near zero rust 10 years on. Certainly some buyers remorse on paying so much for such poor quality.
Greatly appreciate the history and inputs folks provided on this thread.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about what you have there at all. If this is all you have this is extremely common. Trust me, I've climbed under many of them after dealing with my salt damage and many looked exactly like your photos. The rear axle has always been an issue like this since 21. Not every axle but I would say plenty of them. Pretty easy to clean up these minor issues if it bothers you. From someone knows what you're going through, enjoy your vehicle!

I've driven Ford fleet trucks for decades and many of them were pretty rusted underneath when new. I'm 200 feet from the ocean on the New York coast, and these roads are salted heavily in the winter.

I keep my trucks generally for 230,000 miles or about 18 - 20 years. By the time they go, the rust problems are usually in the rocker panels, one or two body mounts and the spring perches on the coil-over shocks.

None of the surface rust I see when these things are new has ever affected me at all.
