FL-500S oil filter socket - spent some time designing this today... cheers!

Edit - designed a 14 rib version as well. I had two FL-500S filters needing two different sockets so I designed the 2nd one as well. Download at the link above.

Somehow I never even thought of this and I do the expedition and f150 myself. Gonna print this up. Thanks!

Napa also sells an adapter that fits this filter. My buddy got one. He just took in a filter and found one that fits perfectly. I need to do that as well. I like this idea as well. But I don’t have a 3D printer. For some reason just never got into the whole thing.

Why are there two rib designs? Also, I'll pay someone for these if they'll make them for me.

Here is a filter adapter that fits both types of filters (maybe an idea for you printers;)):

I bought an FL 500S filter off of Amazon and the one that showed up had a manufacturing date of June 2020 and it had the 30 ribs. Then I bought another filter to have on hand and that one has the 14 ribs. I was kind of curious if the 30 rib design was an older one. Either way, I designed one for each, so in either instance of a filter showing up with one of those designs, I'm good to go. Totally could have purchased sockets but I'm familiar with design and 3D printing so these were 50 cents each in material and a cup of coffee's time to design.... and I can put it out there for the masses to print their own.

There are printers and then there are designers. Designing this would be a bit tricky but not impossible... it looks like the pattern is quite a bit more shallow when you incorporate both filter types which might be a little much for the 3D print to hold versus metal.

Nice job! Now I need a 3D printer! I have been looking for a reason to buy one.
There's a running joke that I've seen before about 3D printers. Something along the lines of, my toilet handle broke so I need to spend $600 on a 3D printer to fix it. It is like that though. Once you get your hands dirty with design, you can design and print a lot of solutions. Pretty amazing. I've had my printer now for roughly 4 years and I've been designing a long.
