So I am curious if the wiper arms are adjustable at all as far as where they sit in the off position and how that coordinates to the length the move while they are turned on. In December while traveling from the southern state we currently live in up north to visit family we caught a rock chip in the windshield ?. Safelite came and replaced the windshield after our trip with a new ford factory windshield. It hasn’t rained here until this last week and I noticed a “clicking” noise now while using the wipers. It drives my OCD nuts! Upon investigation the drivers side wiper actually wipes past the edge of the windshield and makes contact with the A pillar causing the sounds. Long term concern is it damaging the paint and causing a spot for corrosion over the life of the truck. When the wipers are off they appear seated at the bottom of the windshield like they were originally however I had t had a reason for concern before this, to include no noise until after the windshield was replaced and these were removed during the install. Any help would be appreciated.

My curiosity also wonders if they are left and right specific. I wonder when the arms were removed to replace the glass if it’s possible to put the drivers side on the passenger and the passenger on the drivers side. Haven’t messed with pulling them off yet, I will in the morning to see if I can adjust them…just curious as I lay here thinking about it…?

Exactly, sounds like they’re one or two splines off.

Somewhere there’s a thread on removing and replacing the wiper arms.

Good luck!

as far as length of each side...they are the same from what i'm seeing. it is possible if they took the whole arm off the truck like others have said, it may need to be adjusted and set back a few splines.

I’ve had this issue for awhile now.
I just replaced wiper blades the other day and noticed
how unbelievably sloppy the fit is from wiper to post.
I adjusted the wiper on the post to sit quite a bit lower at park.
Now the blade parks up higher again and is slapping the “A” pillar once more.
I also noticed the the blade jerks (or pauses) a split second before completing the upstroke.
Also, my driver side wiper cover (cowl) is lifting up.
The Ford store guy tells me 5-7 days before they can get to it.
My backup truck has an issue that needs addressed before I can drop off the Ford for something that should have been addressed long ago.

yup
mine started doing this during my early morning drive
i lifted it up off the post and moved it lower by one little groove tooth. boom problem solved
i dont understand how it jumped off by one groove?
it also stopped bouncing on the windshield. maybe it was loose ?

I'm now thinking that those little tiny square keys that fall out of the wipers are more necessary than unnecessary.
Perhaps I will scout around for the correct key stock and super glue a piece in the key groove.
Might help keep the wipers clocked properly if I can get some suitable glue that will retain the key, but still allow me to remove it if necessary.
If my wipers are sloppy enough to not stay in place, that should be a warrantee/safety issue.
And mine have skipped a spline or two since moving them last week.

There is a slight difference right and left. Had the same problem drivers side wiper hitting a pillar after wiper motor replacement. Frustration set in and I went to oemfordpartsdirect.com found part numbers for right and left dealer put them on wrong. Part numbers are stamped on skinny part of arm. Right side(passenger) #17526A and Left side (driver) 17527A. After swapping side's now there is about 2" from a pillar and 1" from cowl windshield seal at wiper resting position.

You can adjust these easily yourself. Just lift up the arm and then there is a release tab. It comes right off. Then you can put it back matching the marks on the windshield were it used to be. Just install it back with the arm in the up position, then lower the arm down and it will lock in place.
