The 3.5 Powerboost is an obvious winner. I wonder if Ford considered, or would consider, hybridizing the 2.7? It's a stout little engine and I would have to believe MPGs could reach the upper 20's.

Just conjecture on my part, but Ford gains very little additional sales hybrid-izing an additional F150 drivetrain.

It would make way more sense to do so on yet a different model/line.

Of course if that did include the 2.7, I agree that it would be an awesome package.

I think I read rumors of them doing so on the Ranger?

The RV 5th wheel towing world would be a huge win, in my opinion. SuperDuty with the Generator is a match in heaven.

Note: this is coming from a full-time RV fella with a Powerboost. I pinch myself everytime I launch ProPower onboard and sit back to sip coffee made from the rolling grid parked outside the front door. :)

I would convince my wife to switch to an F250 PB in a heartbeat.
I agree a Super Duty PowerBoost is a great idea. And I would not be shocked to see it become a reality as a lot of work truck are Super Duties as well as the RV towers.

For me 95% of the time I do not need to capabilities of a Super Duty.

Oh, I live in a city and it's totally impractical for us 90% of the time. But still...

If they had a Plug-In hybrid option of either a 2.7 or 3.5, I'd have bought that in a second. I generally don't tow heavy stuff, and would rather have the MPG boost.
However, from Ford's standpoint, such a vehicle might rob sales from the Lightning, so not sure how likely it would be.

Which sucks because even if I only had like 15-20 miles of electric only, it would be more than enough on a daily basis while offering me the ability to use Gas when I need it for longer trips/hauls. I wouldn't even care if in Tow mode it only worked in Gas/Electric hybrid mode only.

I don't think it needs to be an either/or scenario, though they may see it that way.

The 3.0 NanoBoost™ (Ford HMU and I'll sell that trademark for cheeep) in the Lincoln Aviator is the winning option here.
- Plug-in hybrid
- 21 mi e-drive range
- 494 HP an 630 Tq!
