If it’s helpful, I can post the fuel pump pressure, voltage tables from HPTuners?

But when coasting down from speed, it’s on the lowest demand, setting or value.

Yes sir I’ve had the exact same problem on two trucks. I recently updated my calibration with no fix. I definitely think it’s a fuel pressure problem because the Roush superchargers come with a gas pump voltage booster to compensate for the boost. Because any boost that it’s pushing gets lost pressure wise and fuel pressure.
Mine does it too. I just updated the calibration about a week ago. Hasn’t it done it again yet ??

I did the install myself in Jan and have 15k miles on it so far and it’s been trouble free. I daily drive it at the moment and average 18mpg but can get to 22mpg on freeway. I have the whistle but I don’t really notice it unless I have my window down.
the only thing that I personally will have to purchase to reverse it would be a vacuum line that I modified to fit better.
This mileage is really impressive, I just got a 2023 F150 Roush Lariat with the Ford Performance whipple charger, since its the Roush it does have a level and 33" tires but I am averaging 12mpg hand calculated and only getting around 16 steady on highway, it has the 3.73 gears so it is revving fairly high at 75mph but this still seems low comparatively, did your get significantly better after a break in period? Also what rear end does your have?

Yea its the base 3.31 locker with the little 17” street tires which are like 30-31” tall.

Do I need a Whipple stage 2 kit already installed to be able to upgrade to stage 3? Or can I just buy a stage 3 kit to have installed on stock truck

As far as I know, Whipple offers a Stage 1, Stage 1R, and Stage 2 kit for our trucks. I suppose the 1R could mean "Stage 2" and Stage 2 could mean "Stage 3” ;)

Whipple does offer a Stage 1 to Stage 2 upgrade for 2K.

You can buy a Stage 2 kit and have it installed on a stock truck.

Hope this helps.

There is a company called Palm Beach Dyno selling a stage 3 kit.....maybe its a misprint. but it says used for E8 fuel

That’s interesting, a Roush package with an FP SC :)

That does seem on the low side. There are so many variables though; driving style, terrain, shoot even wheel alignment, head wind, type of tires, tire air pressure, etc. that can impact performance. Certainly gear ratio can play a part, but I wouldn’t think 3.73’s would make that much difference.

I installed my FP kit and have 12K miles on it. I don’t race around and just enjoy the extra humph in my daily driving. My MPG is similar to NavyChief, except for city. Likely because it’s more hilly where I’m at. My mileage changed very little over stock. I consistantly see 16 city and 21/22 highway unless I’m towing. I have 3.31 gears, the same Roush package wheels, with Conti Terrain Contact 275/60R20 (33” x 10.8”).

I had those same General Tires for about a month (GT offers a 45 day trial). IIRC they each weigh ~65 lbs vs ~45 lbs for the Conti’s. I noticed the heavier tire immediately. It effected city driving and I didn’t like how heavy my truck felt.

I know the above isn’t much help, but have you tried changing your driving style, even just for a couple of tanks for fuel? Like say try to keep the RPM’s below 2.5K for a a tank or two and see.

Right, PBD is selling “Levels”, not Stages and is specific to PBD, not Whipple. PBD put together packages that upgrade base Whipple Stage 1 or 2 kits..
Do I need a Whipple stage 2 kit already installed to be able to upgrade to stage 3?
The PBD Level 3 upgrade includes new injectors. Ideally you would want to install them during the initial install. If the Whipple Stage 2 is already installed, you will need to remove it to install the PBD Level 3 injectors.

Yes, it is. Keep all the stock parts you remove ie. intake manifold with stock throttle body (if stage 2,) air intake box setup, thermostat housing that gets replaced etc. Just keep in mind that if you had a shop install it, you would be paying the same amount for them to uninstall the kit.

Has to be run with 5W-50 engine oil, spark plugs replaced every 20,000 miles (highly recommend using Ford Performance supercharger spec plugs seen HERE,) and changing supercharger oil every 100k miles. This requires removal of the supercharger. There have been issues with people burning up cats especially those running the short pre-axle exit exhausts. For longevity, it has been recommended to run catless if you will be beating the shit out of the truck. This is a non-issue if you will be driving normally with occasional spirited driving here and there and retaining the stock pulley. You MUST run a minimum of 91 pump gas. At this time, you can NOT run E85 on the canned Whipple tune.

This is a question only you can answer. It will pay to do your homework on the experience/rep of the shop that will be doing it. Obviously if there's a major issue, you would need to trailer the truck back to the shop. Just make sure the shop is familiar with Ford trucks and Whipple blowers.

None.

I am as well, but as someone who has other projects going on in the garage, I just didn't have the space/time to do the install immediately so I had a trusted local Mustang shop do the install. They had my truck for a couple days. They quoted me $900 for the install which IMO was too good to pass up for easily a 12hour + job which was done flawlessly.

Just do it! Hope the feedback helps.
If my F150 is flex fuel can I run E85 on the stage 2 kit?

I see this question being asked on several platforms. I want to uninstall my Whipple and go back to stock. How do I install my stock tune again? The responses vary from you can’t to restore your stock tune from the Tomahawk tuner ?‍♂

So what is the verdict...
  1. Tow the truck to the dealership and politely ask if they will restore the stock tune?
  2. Use FDRS to restore the stock tune?
  3. Ask Whipple to make a new tune with stock parameters (minus cylinder deactivation of course)?
Any other ideas how this might play out?

Thanks for that detail! Very interesting information to say the least. I wasn’t aware Whipple offered to take the ECM back to stock.

It’s really not for me, I have no desire to go back to stock anytime soon. I’ve read so many different stories and they are all over the place.

Thanks again!

oh. I thought you were going back to stock. My mistake.
only reason I could see that scenario is to sell/trade it or going twin turbo.
man card remains intact. Lol

Ive had that same issue of low rpms/stalling when giving the truck light throttle from a stop and then slowing down shortly after. I got an FP700 in October of '23.

I had a whistle/squealing sound that I recently tracked down. It started as just a not very noticeable high pitch whistle for a few seconds on cold starts and progressed to a louder more noticeable almost squealing on startup and under light throttle. Thought it was a failing bypass actuator but it actually ended up being the bolts backing out on the adapter plate that mates the stock TB to the SC. By the time I found the issue 1 bolt was gone and the other 3 were loose. Tightened the bolts and replaced the lost one and its back to normal. If you are having an abnormal whistle maybe put those bolts on the TB plate on your list of things to check.
