I'm having my dealer install the Ford Performance Whipple on my 5.0 and post install they've noted what they consider to be an excessive amount of movement in a factory belt tensioner pulley. They replaced the pulley and found the new one also has a lot of walk. The engine does run normally, but they're concerned. The dealer shop then put in to Whipple tech support on the matter because maybe this is normal in this application (?) but have not gotten a reply and it's been a couple of days with my truck just sitting there as they don't feel comfortable releasing it.

Can anyone weigh in on this maybe problem?

Does someone have the connect at Whipple to get them to weigh in?

Good, what was the problem?

The belt tension pulley has a step spacer sandwiched between the pulley and the idler bracket. The step spacer is meant to install one way, but if you flip around it fits too but now the pulley has excessive play.

Enjoy your new found power ;-)
