What's In This Update? apparently nothing....

Throwing a poll out there to see if it's just me, or the majority of us.

I get so frustrated with the OTA update "details" or lack there of. Like come on Ford, you felt the need to make the change, what did you change, how is it improved, like tell me something.

Example of the latest 4.3.3 update:
"We've recently completed an improvement to the trailer and tailgate setting for your Ford F-150 truck."
and that's all it says....like what freaking improvement was made...just tell me, I want the real details...even If I can't understand them.

Like..."We had to modify some of the root software code to prevent other functions from interfering with intended functions"
or...."We've added a new setting that disables remote tailgate opening while there is trailer connected, to prevent damage to the tailgate should a portion of the trailer be in the path of the tailgate opening without the users knowledge"

While I would like more details, we really don't need them. As long as we have Jesse around, we'll know what these updates entail regardless of how Ford words it.

The real crazy thing is, that particular update is for the IPC. So unless the animations on the IPC that have to do with connecting your truck to a trailer have been changed, I don't see what one thing has to do with the other. No one (that I know of) has reported seeing anything different with any of the 4.3.x updates for the IPC. As per Jesse: Update 4.3.3 only updates the strategy for the IPC. It does not make any actual changes.

I fully understand my gripe is dumb and pointless. To me it's just, tell me what was changed. Like ok, it changed the strategy; what was it before and what is it now...like to just say improvement, or updates, doesn't say anything and seems pointless. Plus we shouldn't have to rely on Jesse, like they provide a button for 'Details' on the update, yet there are no details provided. I shouldn't be running to this forum every time there is an update to learn what that update was, like this 4.3.3 there was nothing in any of the notifications that said it was IPC update, we had to get that info from Jesse, like why not share that info....I really don't know why it all frustrates me so much, but it sure does make my blood boil.

Yea, but it's the way of the tech world nowadays. Case in point: Updates to apps on phones. Almost every time I get an update for Android Auto, I check the notes and all it says is "various bugs and fixes".

What bugs were addressed? What fixes were made?

And this is coming from Google; a software giant. So what can we expect from Ford? I get you....I really do. Details would be nice. I'm more angry about the fact that I have had to spend my time and money on several occasions to get the free OTA updates installed myself. I would much rather they fix their messed up OTA process and keep the details to themselves.

Yes, I agree this is annoying AF. I expect details and specifics so that I can understand what may have changed, should there be problems.

I don't care so much about new features or "updates for future updates", but info on bug fixes would be very helpful so I know whether or not future/continuing bugs are specific to my truck.

At some point within the last 4.3.2 or 4.3.3 it seems like the text telling you to pay attention to the road still used to say that lane keep assist or active cruise control was engaged and now it says something like "bluecruise is on, pay attention to the driving"

This is just the message for when you're on a road that doesn't offer bluecruise but are using the adaptive cruise and lane keep. Only think new I've noticed the last few updates.

You certainly have a good point there. I would much rather everything they advertise was exactly as they presented it....don't even get me started on the ProPower 2kW (non-hybrid).

I see where you are going with that...but I don't exactly rely on my phone to get me and my family from point A to point B. And my phone didn't cost $70k, and even Apple provides slightly more detail to their updates than ford does.

I see you have a 2021....you likely won't get anything until:
1. you get a 'bad' APIM module replaced.
IF you have already gotten that fixed
2. you need to get a Mongoose cable, and update all your modules yourself....or good luck convincing a dealer to do it for you.

I had my APIM deemed 'bad' and was replaced. I then went nearly a year with no updates. Bought myself a mongoose cable, and FDRS subscription, and proceeded to update all my modules. Now since doing all that, I have been receiving the OTA automagically..

If Ford is going to the trouble to give a basic summary anyhow, how much more hassle could it be to just list the details of the update?
