You spent days combing through the 2023 build guides to come up the perfect set of options and received a quote from a well-known and well respected dealer for that exact truck. You sign paperwork, hand over a deposit, and within 24 hours your receive an email from Ford that your order is confirmed! Two days later and you receive an email it is scheduled for production! Everything is going great! Then one week before your build date you look up your Window Sticker. Everything looks good, except for that one option is missing…. You go back to your emails, you review the details, you find the error…. The quote you accepted was perfect, the dealer missed a line item on the transfer to Fords ordering system…. You reach out to the dealer and they apologize for the error and make a genuine effort to have the build modified with no luck. You are left with these three options, accept the truck as it is built, submit a new order and wait, or walk away. You’ve been assured by the dealer there is no wiggle room to make this right due to their amazing pricing. Let’s not forget, there has been a $1000 base price increase since the original order and the 2.9% for 60 is no longer advertised and likely gone. While the option is mainly cosmetic, this is your one big purchase you hope to keep for years and going aftermarket would likely double the cost of that option putting it north of $2000. What would you do? Definitely having a tough time deciding for myself!

I guess it depends on if it's something you can live without right away. Sounds like it's something you can add afterwards so if it's relatively easy to change down the road I would just stick with your order. Who knows, you might take it home and after a few weeks not even care about the missing option.

Just do it, $2000 is nothing. I wish I would have ordered more options with all the price increases.

If you’re going to keep it long term order what you want. If you don’t you will always second guess yourself. If you only keep your trucks for a few years I would stick with your current order.

It was the power running boards which are “free” with the black appearance package. My head says it’s ok since it’s just one more thing to fail down the road, but they do add a bit to the overall look so it’s hard to be ok letting it go. If it weren’t for the $1000 base price increase I’d reorder, but now they would no longer be “free”. Just a frustrating sequence of events.

Power running boards suck in the winter. Not worth it for me. The removal of heated steering wheel would cause me to cancel the order though.

I know a number of folks that have had problems with the power running boards. Possibly a blessing in disguise? If it were me, I would take it as is and likely purchase a like new set of Sport Package running boards.

Assuming you’ve never had them before… If your primary reason to have them was they were free with BAP versus a physical limitation compared to standard boards, then let ‘em go.

I got them for the freebie factor on my BAP. Novel at first, but they annoy me more than add to enjoyment. You have 2 limited setting options: way to short or unreasonably long.
So you think, no problem, I’ll just deploy them and turn them to off and they wont constantly go up and down. Nope..,as soon as you roll away the loudish motor whirs away and up they come. unplugged may be next, but seems kinda silly.

I’ve been keeping my eyes open for a local set of standard boards. Save these for resale value.

If it was an option that I really, really wanted that could not be added later - I'd walk. You order a truck once in your life, speched to your dreams - you want it like this.

However, personally I did not want power running boards so I may not be as objective. I would keep the truck if it had everything else that I wanted and I would try to get something from the dealer as a compenation. Power running boards can be added later, and also as mentioned before me - it's just another piece that can break (hence why I did not want it in the first place).

I got my '22 PB Lariat off the lot and it was damn near perfect. My buddy had the factory power running boards on his and I thought, "I'll add those later". Did the research on the price as well as adding the factory boards with cutting/splicing/etc. and determined it was too much work and didn't want to risk damaging my brand new beautiful baby! For what it's worth, my buddy hates his power running boards and says all they do is mess up your pants when you forget they are there as you get out of your ride. Mine came with the "normal" running boards and they work just fine. I tend to think they will take more of a beating than power boards and I have even teased myself to think they might prevent more door dings than the power boards.

That being said, they do look cool and add a level of "fancy" to your ride. I have thought to add them down the road when Amp or another company comes up with a PB solution, but then again, more moving parts make more points of failure. I would not walk away from your order if it is that close to being delivered due to the nightmares I have read on this forum alone. You may get to order your new perfect truck and the price will increase on top of who knows what options they will delete on you between order and production! I'm not a gambling man.

I love my ride (just broke 2000 miles so I'm a rookie) and I traded in a '13 Raptor for it. The only thing I wish I had paid more attention to was the "step" tailgate. I have a fused spine and two knees needing to be replaced and that damn step wasn't a big deal... until it was a big deal!

Get your truck, enjoy it, read as much as you can on this forum and save the power running boards for part of the upgrades/mods down the road. It will give you something else to add to that list!

personally, I’d take the truck.
Also, I ordered the fixed step boards on mine.
After a few wet days, I became aware they are good for keeping road grime from the sides of the truck, but would collect crap on top of them.
The $50 splash guard/mudflap took care of that..
Now the tops of the boards stay clean and I will have no electrical issues with then. They don’t have to work, they are just there.
I use them more for getting in than getting out.

If you are still intent on powered versions, many suppliers out there that are probably more reliable. Drop a bit lower/ cleaner tuck.
But still being stored underneath they are gonna collect road debris.

with all the electrical crap on these things now, electrical gremlins WILL show up..

But, I only seem to require AC , tilt , cruise to be content.

The images in the production tracker show the Powerboost will have dual exhausts. While I think it’s a glitch, if accurate, that feature alone coming to fruition would bring a smile back to my face. Time will tell.

I read on Ford's build site that is now included with the BAP for 4x4's with the 3.5 EcoBoost. Maybe the 4x4 PowerBoost are getting them as well?

I have the power boards on mine. They are a nice touch but I wouldn't walk away from your truck for them missing. Just try and get some concessions/freebies tossed in by the Dealer for them f*cking up your order.
