I feel like sometimes engine and HV battery might be running hot. Here are some comparisons of what my typical vs max temperatures i’ve seen:

Typical Coolant Temp: 198*F
Max Coolant Temp: 220*F

Typical Cylinder Head Temp: 220*F
Max Cylinder Head Temp: 250*F

Typical HV Battery Temp: 104*F
Max HV Battery Temp: 120*F

Do these max temperatures I’ve seen should be a concern? The coolant is not leaking because the reservoir is still full

However my transmission temps seem pretty good:

Typical Transmission Temp: 190*F
Max Transmission Temp: 205*F

I have a 21 5.0. I have activated my readings from forscan. Typically I get 170°-200° for motor and 160°-210° for transmission.

Here’s a picture of mine.

I monitor whats available on the screen, mine is not a powerboost. But essentially I've stopped worrying about the temps unless they are approaching the red. I figure these trucks know what they are doing better than I do. lol When I was towing I got higher temps but nothing to be concerned about. Will be interesting to see what it does towing in hot temps, because the one time I have towed with it, it was a relatively cool day.

Hey Hans, These data are consistent with what I have observed under several different scenarios. See attached. They all corelate to ambient for a stock PB. The highest "Cylinder Head Temperature - Corrected (°F)" in the dataset is 250.25°F.

I am gathering these data again now that I have changed the intercooler and may also track with a CAI, not sure yet or which one. I am more worried about the transmission T but I failed to capture it and not sure it matters once its heat soaked by the engine.

That sounds about right.
What I don't like is the Intake Air Temp 2, looks to be after the intercooler. It gets up to 115 degrees plus in EV mode and highway speed, I can update after CVF Titan v2 intercooler install.

Yes, in EV mode IAT2 will rise because the flaps in front of the intercooler are closed and therefore no significant air flow for the intercooler to use for air/air cooling. I believe the flaps are also closed when lifted/decelerating with ICE ON. @Snakebitten may I ask you to comment/confirm.

I believe you will be removing slats for the cvf, may skew data a bit but still worth noting. I went with Livernoise.

What's your IAT2 ranges with Livernoise?
See the plot below.
The range of Intake Air Temperature Sensor - Intake Air Temperature Bank 1 Sensor 2 (°F) is:
  • Minimum: 51.8°F
  • Maximum: 141.8°F
  • Range: 90.0°F
Note:
? Positively Correlated:
  • Intake Air Temperature (°F): 0.610 – strongest correlation
  • Charge Air Cooler Temp Bank 1 Sensor 1 - Raw (°F): 0.502 – moderate correlation
  • Intake Air Temp Sensor - Bank 1 Sensor 2 (°F): 0.470 – moderate correlation
⚠ Weak or No Correlation:
  • Raw Transmission Fluid Temp (TFT): 0.103
  • Engine Coolant Temp (°F): 0.015
  • Cylinder Head Temp - Corrected (°F): ~0
I didn't expect that a larger intercooler or lower IAT would decrease cylinder head T but I expect it to enable increased efficiency so that turbos and engine rpm is less and thus less heat over time. Next, I plan to see if the larger intercooler increases efficiency.

Got the CVF intercooler installed past Saturday, I do see some initial improvements. Had IAT2 went up to 105 after 25 minutes of 70 mph with ambient temp of 66 degrees. More road testing needed.
As for the installation, had to remove pedestrian noise maker and trim the shroud in order to fit the new intercooler.

I have noticed that if I’m doing a lot of city driving when there’s a lot of flip-flopping between ice and electric, temperatures tend to sit higher, pushing even as high as 220° sometimes. If I’m doing all highway with minimal to no electric, I sit around 190 to 200. My understanding is that when you’re in electric mode, the coolant pump isn’t running so while running in electric theoretically will lower the temperature as the engine is not on, it’s also not being cooled from previous work that it was doing.

This is at least my understanding of it and I’m a new owner so just going off some observations that I’ve noticed in the first month and a half.

I think electric will run during EV mode. You can monitor it via Variable Fan 2 duty cycle with MX.
