I put the original ipma back in my truck to bring it back to stock for the dealer to diagnose why I couldn't get lane keeping calibration. Long long story. Dealer said I needed to restore all original modules first.
When I put the original ipma in i saw that I had blue cruse 1.4.
The original ipma i just iinstalled has not been PMI'd or been updated in over a year. I just plugged it in as was.
Does the new BlueCruise update have anything to do with the ipma? This old ipma hasn't been in the truck for over a year.
This is not a problem. I just want to understand.

BC 1.4 gets added with an IPMA/PSCM update. There are other ADAS modules that need to be up to date like the CMR and SCCM, but the IPMA software is what contains BC 1.4.

Can you take a look at my current setup? I have a old ipma in it now. The bluecruse screen is totally different.

Ipc. Instead of saying bluecruse it says hands free on far left. Different graphics for the vehicle like new lines on side that change colors and a rounded shaded area ahead of the truck.

Can someone posted a photo of what 1.4 looks like in the ipc?

It sounds like BC is not engaging. Remember, it only comes on in mapped zones below 81mph. You were using the Comma for a while and it made the icon come on anywhere.

I had taken the comma out. My dealer didn't want to work on the failed ipma if it was in there. Made me take everything, cables and all out.
When I first took it in I had only removed the head unit. But there was something wrong with the comma ford cable that was blocking access to the buss.
Yesterday I put my original ipma in by request of my service guy. Ford has authorized a ipma replacement. The one I was using was a special ipma that had better programing. I didn't want to loose it. There is nothing wrong with it. Ford is parts swapping to fix a 30 buck cable. So my dealer was cool and said just put the old one back in because they are just going to send it back as a core when the new swap is done.

Ford is replacing the ipma because the coax cable from the camera is faulty. Don't ask...
Anyway I installed a old ipma that had not seen any updates for over a year. My bluecruse screen is different. I had 1.2. I remember what the screen looked like. This is different.

I miss my comma. It's so much better than bluecruse. It's going back in the very second Ford is done with my warranty work.

The UI elements are in the IPC not the IPMA. Changing the IPMA likely changes nothing on the display. If you were to put older software on your IPC you would see the old images.

Now that make more sense. I don't necessarily have 1.4 now?. It just looks like it because of the updated IPC?. I know I had 1.4 after I did a full update on the ipma that I just swapped out for this old original. I think rugdraw verified it had 1.4 update.
I just didn't get a chance to drive with it after the updates because i couldn't get it to calibrate. I spent weeks trying to find the issue. Until i happened across a service bulletin ford put out recently. It said there is a issue with the cable from the camera to the ipma. 1. Do a wiggle test on the cables. 2. Replace the cable from the camera to the c900 connector in the A pillar. 3. Replace the coax from the A pillar c900 to the ipma. 4. Replace the ipma camera. 5. Replace the ipma.
Even Jesse said it was likely the cables. He went over the ipma with a fine tooth comb. There is nothing wrong with it. It was successful in the 360 calibration and the trailer calibration and updated to current strategy. It just throws codes for the ipma camera and lane keeping calibration.

I farted around with the cables last night when i was swapping the module. Disconnecting, cleaning and reconnecting. (Like the SB said to do first but ford decided to go the replace the ipma first) what a waist of money. The camera errors went away. I argued with them to do the cables first like the service bulletin called for. But the higher ups decided to start with the ipma.
What ever...
I would keep the old ipma in it now, do a pmi and do a update and call it fixed but that original module got water damaged by a exploding water heater. It fails to
to recrecognize the 5 rear side and rear sensors. They work fine with other ipma's
At least I know the camera is good and the issue is with the two cables. If they put the new ipma in tomorrow it will fix the issue. They will get to say,(i told you so) not knowing I futzed around with cleaning the cables. I'll give yhem the win. The fix may be temporary and I will be taking it back in. Unless I replace the cables myself.

At least I get a new ipma to replace the one that got damaged. And I get to keep the ipma that Jesse helped me program. It restored some of the features that the original one was lacking because of the chip shortage. It was missing part of its brain. That's why I didn't want my dealer to take it and send it back as a defective core.
Once I came clean with my technician as to why I was resistant to replacing the current ipma he was the one that said just stick the damaged one in. We only need a core to send back in and it's better that I put the original with serial number back anyway broken or not. He said ford told them to pull the ipma out and stick the replacement in. He isn't going to even look at it anymore. He already tried to calibrate it 5 times and got some ford corporate tech involved. He was told and authorized to replace the ipma. He even said it was likely the cable but he has to do what the ford corporate tech says. He is super cool alowing me to keep the current ipma and swapping the old one back in. He even loves the comma autopilot I was using. When I had it there for a trailer break module replacement and then again for the exhaust heat exchanger issue he got a couple chances to drive it.

I'm going to put the livernoise tune on it when it's done. I asked if that will compromise my warranty. He said no. As long as I bring the truck back to stock before I bring it in. Pretty cool.
