I just bought a 21 F150 3.5 L V6. It’s having quite a few issues in my first week of having it. We went to check the fuse box for something and found all these wires and they come to the driver side floor, but plugged into anything. the green and brown are spliced into a harness near the battery and ran into the truck and connected to each other. The yellow and brown that definitely run from a harness near the fuse box over to by the drivers feet and then left there separately loose (as seen in one of the pictures) . Is there anything that is normally put there? If we know what they were trying to plug-in, we might be able to know where they were trying to go and maybe how they screwed up the system.

Did you buy it from a dealer or private sale? The dealer should be able to get in touch with the previous owner and find out what they are for or did.

Looks like they used trailer wiring from a kit

I got it from a dealer, but they bought it from an auction.

Any reason they would need a second when there is one built in? Like types that don’t use the truck version?
Nope
They used a cheap 4 wire ..a d poked holes in the grommet.
Then connected them,??
Wonder what they connected to

Are they powered

Would have to know what wires they tapped into to know what they might have been doing. I'd say generally connecting two random wires under the hood together is probably not a great idea. If something isn't working correctly that would be something to try disconnecting.

Owner, IT Consulting\MSP company.
Mark them accordingly (in case something doesn't work) and disconnect them,
They aren't even proper wires for power or remote leads (wrong insulation).
This could be a source of potential BIG problem if they stay connected

The gauge is not small enough for a audio amp or other similar high draw add on ... it might have been used for something that is always on, like a video recorder (camera) or even a radar detector. As others suggested, try to get rid of as much of that junk as you can - will prevent some issues in the future. I wish automakers would provide a better in cab power source so you can easily install cameras and other items without jacking up the existing wiring harnesses. Good luck and hope you enjoy your new to you F150!

I relooked at this ... I think the previous owner had a two way radio or even a CB radio with those ?

Only thing I can think of in older trucks under dash would be a trailer brake controller or a CB radio. Not really sure what the wires they tapped into control but it could have been some added lighting if they were tapping wires and running to a switch.

The way the brown and green wire are installed under the hood, it looks like someone cut a wire and installed those for some sort of module that would interrupt power or a signal, that being why it's connected back together inside the cab. Do you have a reputable trailer or audio shop that you could swing by and they might be able to look and let you know before digging in deep?
