What are the speakers on the inside ceiling of F150?

Hi, I got the 18 speakers B&O audio.
May I know what are the speakers on top of the front seats?
I am asking because they don't seem to be producing sound.
Are they some sort of subwoofers that only produce sound for specific types of music?

I believe that is the microphone for using voice commands.

The little round thing in the headliner is the microphone. The whole idea of the sound system is to have a seamless blend of sound from every speaker just like at a concert. Now there are some songs that will highlight the headliner speakers more. Also how high you have your volume set to will make them more noticeable the same is true for the headrest speakers in the seat. You probably won't hear thoes speakers just listining to your favorite local fm radio station you really need to be streaming higher quality audio for your favorite streaming service.

They are part of the surround sound. You also have 2 speakers in your headrest you may or may not hear. There was a system update that improved the sound . You also need to have the “surround” mode set in the audio settings with a good source. AM/FM radio won’t cut it

Put your ear close to the ceiling speakers and you will hear sound coming from them. Notice the B&O symbol in your headrests. That shows that you also have speakers built in the headrests. For your truck this indicates you have the B&O Unleashed stereo system.

When I make phone calls with CarPlay the callers voice also comes through the headrest speakers. The attention to detail with this system isn't always apparent - it you listen to Def Leppard you might not hear it and certainly AM talk radio (seems to all come through the center speaker) but something like Collective Soul, Jimmy Buffett or classical music makes the system come more alive (12 to 15 on the volume). As mentioned set it on surround sound and neutral on the sound (bass, trouble and mid-range) to start - you will be surprised (I was anyway). Good listening.

I have a copy of B&O's demo music. They are all WAV files. I don't know if that makes any difference to how the system sounds. One would think B&O would use the best format to demo their system. The ZIP file I have is too large to load on here. Will try one file at a time if anyone is interested.

You know, in the old days you just ordered AM radio with a speaker in the middle of the dash. A fancy car, like my 67 Toronado, had AM/FM PLUS an extra speaker about shoulder height in the middle of the rear seat. Symphonic stereo all the way.

Now we have so many speakers we do not know which ones are speakers or microphones. What we might or might not hear. I have B&O and it has not made my life any better. I think. I need to check in with the wife for confirmation.

Ignorance was bliss. Is this a great country or what?

Listening to an HD radio station is really the only audio source that can make full use of the surround sound on the 18 speaker system.
Even Apple music in lossless mode still sounds kind of blah.
Don't get me started on SiriusXM's garbage signal. Their two channel stereo signal sounds like trash on this system. Most of the audio comes out of the center speaker in the dash.

Every speaker does something even if you do not think you can notice it. Took me long time to figure out my headset speakers were actually doing something too.

Hahaha, So far the headset speakers are the only ones that I don't hear sound yet.

You really have to put ear to it and cover the other ear. I think it is more mid range area but you'll hear it.
