Just bought a 2023 f150 xlt and I am noticing some weird downshift behavior. Truck has 35k miles on it and runs good besides this issue. Only going from 4th to 3rd gear am i experiencing this. transmission is smooth all the way up to 10th gear, and down to 4th. No noises/sounds, it just feels like it drops rpm too quick and the truck kinda makes you jolt forward inside the cab. kind of like you push the brake a little too hard. Took it into the dealer the other day and they are acting like they dont notice anything. Kind of feel like they are giving me the run around as you can clearly feel it. it was enough for me to notice it. Anyone else run into this problem and found a fix? Ive seen some results on google searches that seem to be in the ballpark of this but no clear answers. I dont see any recalls on my truck.

I think you can search my post history and I have a very very similar issue with my 6-5 downshift and sometimes 5-4. Its like a bump or jolt like you describe.

I've had the trans tech in my truck twice now, computers all hooked up, checking response times on solenoids, pressures etc and everything is 100% normal. He said there can sometimes be a slight timing delay with torque converter unlocking and a shift occurring but my truck has nothing abnormal.

I can get it pretty smooth with slightly increasing brake pressure when the shift occurs or slight throttle application. Worst is coasting and letting it downshift.

This is one of the biggest reasons I really dislike the 10 speed. It is just always making its presence known, and is highly annoying. Never driven a car with this busy a transmission. I've had BMW 6 and 8 speeds, Toyota 4, 6, 10 speed automatics, and a VW with DSG... none of them operated anywhere even close to the way the Ford 10 Speed works.

About the only thing on my truck I truly dislike and very possibly will keep me out of another Ford with this transmission unless they have a major overhaul of the entire thing.

Had a similar complaint about my 4-3 shift...

Top 3 improvements to my 10r80 in order of most effectiveness:

#1. Buy a tuner that also tunes the transmission like Livernois $700-800, the Ford shift strategies are junk

#2. Fluid flush or exchange $100-500 every 30-50k miles

#3. Reset your transmissions adaptive learning tables (would be #1 if truck was new to me) free

#4. Make sure the driveshaft slip yoke is lubed and axle u bolts are tight $20 every 30-50k miles
