So here is my issue and the conversation i just sent to Ford on this site.

My A/C stopped working yesterday and I’m 900 miles away from my 36,000 factory warranty. I’m in Alaska and pretty much all but one of the dealers are owned by one company here (Kendall Ford) and they cant get me in for almost two months (this was a supposed favor, they are three months out). I‘ll be outside of my warranty period by then. What can i do? They say they are over booked and cant get me in sooner. I’ve had a couple previous warranty issues and they have been always three months out. Is this acceptable by Ford? Are there any standards for service these dealers need to abide by? I’t feels like if you have a warranty, there needs to be an acceptable level of service rendered no?

This is why I have ESP on my vehicle.

Without starting the process at the dealer now I think you'll have difficulty getting it covered. Even if it is just to pull in service drive to record it with a note in system you'll return later when they have an opening. The dealer might be willing to do this for you but 3 months out is a long wait for warranty coverage.

The forum low level people might be able to escalate your case to someone higher up that can give you confirmation on if the above would work.

Ya I would drive in and get it logged in their system with date and mileage and a return time roughly. It should be covered then

It's well established that the manufacturer has very little leverage with a dealership regarding your situation.
In fact, in many states the relationship between dealership/manufacturer could arguably be described as legally adversarial.

Consumers are stuck in the middle.

I do have an ESP actually, the best one… Premium. But thats not the point, and it will then cost me the $100 deductible. That, and you never know if it will be covered or if it’s some wired issue/non covered item.

I would still try and see if they are willing to log it in system now at dealer. That gives you best shot to argue with Ford to cover it under zero deductible warranty. It's still only a chance.

In Florida I would be asking for my loaner right now. This is one of many reasons I'm getting a premium ESP zero deductible enhanced first day rental before my truck leaves Iowa.

And, have them provide documentation (paper on their letterhead or like the printout we all get when we have our trucks serviced by a ford dealer) that you can keep in your records should someone say you're outside the warranty period.

The problem is happening now, within your 36K warranty. Take it in and make them write it up to document the mileage and reported problem. They shouldn't even have to do any diagnosis as long as it is reported within the 36K mileage. You just need proof that you reported the problem before the warranty expiration. And like others have said, it might be a good time to buy a ESP plan.

My dealer, Lithia Ford of Idaho Falls, notes the odometer mileage and date when a fault is reported. If they cannot get to it before the "warranty" period, the date and odometer mileage govern the claim under warranty not the actual date of repair or service. Your dealer is not on the up & up... They're playing you.

I would think the effective monopoly by that dealership group in Alaska has something to do with the issue. "Our way or the Highway" kind of mentality. Lots of ways of working around the few rules and controls Ford asks from it's dealerships.

ESP, even without the extra option for a 1st-day rental, provides a rental if the repair takes more than 24 hrs. I would drive into the service lane, log your complaint, and when they say 3 months, ask for your rental. They will get it looked at.

WRS I didn't know that.. I'm going to add enhanced first day mainly because it pays $60.00 per day ( 10 day limit??) instead of $40.00. It's really hard to find one under $40.00 in Florida. I decided that was important after reading about "Drop it off and we'll try to get to it"..stories here on the forum.

@Ford Motor Company here is a real problem for you to solve. But I'm betting you'll be conveniently absent from this thread.
