My truck was broken into yesterday by some lowlifes looking for guns. They hit a few trucks in my working parking lot in broad daylight. They broke the rear passenger glass and ultimately didn't take anything. I just got home from getting the glass replaced ($300 + tax) and I am seeing this in the window, which does not appear on the factory glass. I texted the guy who did the work and I'm waiting to hear back. Has anyone experienced this?

Only time I have seen something like this was with tempered glass. something about how it's made sometimes causing a weird polarizing effect when looking through it in certain lighting situations. Most of the time it's barely noticeable but this is pretty extreme if that's what it is.

I recently replaced the LF door glass on my 2021 and I had to refuse the first 3 or 4 pieces of glass that were sent to me due to various defects and damage. Our rear door glass is even worse for some reason, but if you look at many F150s, you will quickly notice that most of them have very wavy glass in the rear doors. Some are so bad they look like fun house mirrors.

All the glass I received came directly from the Ford dealer after shipping from the manufacturer. In my case I think the biggest issue was that the glass was shipped in thin cardboard sleeves that didn't fully cover the glass.

If you're worried about the glass being aftermarket, check for a Ford logo at the bottom corner of the glass towards the rear of the truck. If the logo and other branding match your other rear window, it's factory glass; if it doesn't match the other window, the glass is aftermarket.

Its 100% aftermarket. I talked to the installer and he's going to get it replaced under warranty. I am ok living with a little bit of defect but not this bad. The factory glass in my other doors looks perfect in my opinion.

Glad you're getting it fixed but this kind of thing irritates me immensely and feels like it's getting more common. Anyone who took the slightest bit of pride in their work would have stopped as soon as the glass was unwrapped and at least pointed out the flaws to you to get your approval. And a really good person would have unwrapped it before loading the truck and would have rejected it upon delivery because I can't imagine someone being okay with half a dozen large streaks running down the entire piece of glass.

Can't argue this and I agree. The guy is taking care of it so I'll give him that. I went to his shop the first time and he's coming to my work to fix it.

Installer should have contacted you right away and asked how to proceed. At least you have a repaired window until the new glass comes in.
