So I have a bit of a unique situation.

2023 F150 purchased used from a local dealer. Was only given one key.

While vacuuming out under the seats one day I found a second key fob. I was hoping it was my spare key, but after reading the label it was actually for a 2024 and did not work for my vehicle. Can I take this OEM key, and use Forscan to reprogram it to match my existing key?

Maybe talk to your salesman and see if they would program it for you or trade you for one that would work . Never know they may surprise you and say bring it in and get you fixed up.

No. You’d need FDRS and a special license to program keys. You’ll need to either take it to the dealer or a locksmith.

Why in the world you did not demand a second key from the dealership who sold you the truck is beyond me.

I would hold the second key hostage and use it as leverage to get the dealership to give you a second key for your truck. I am sure they will want what you have back.

I wouldn’t necessarily hold it hostage, but it could definitely be leveraged to get a second key that works. I would tell them that the second key “delivered with the truck” isn’t working and you’ve tried replacing batteries, etc. It’s likely they look at the key and realize it’s the wrong one for your truck. Realizing their “mistake” I’d imagine they program a new one for you.
