These are the Ford part numbers, but these numbers are not shown on the transfer cases. My XLT has a transfer case number ML34-7A195-AF, ESOF. What I was hoping for was a number or sequence of numbers that would identify a TOD when picked up at a salvage yard.
You can always use the VIN on the ford parts website and it will tell you the exact T-Case that is in the truck.

What type of salvage yard? Most of them provide you the VIN of the truck it's coming out of as well as the mileage. I wouldn't buy a used part w/out VIN and mileage. TOD transfer cases have clutches in them. Getting one with 80k miles on it doesn't make much sense IMO. The police SSV has a TOD transfer case. Here's a lariat where just about the only thing left is the transfer case

If you buy used you need to get a new output shaft seal and 3 q5 packs of the bolts depending on your truck's age. I reused factory bolts, on next install I'll be using new ones -- they're aluminum bolts (yes, as in the bolt material is aluminum). They don't get much torque on them but they're aluminum.

If you check parts.ford.com, it shows ML34-7A195-BG cross-referencing to ML3Z-7A195-AK

ML3Z-7A195-AK, MSRP: $1,550.77
Usage: 10/12/2020, F150, 3.5L CYCLON-D4-G-DI-TIVCT-UPG, 4X4 2 Speed Transfer Case With Tod

Thanks for the input. I was only looking at t-case with less than 30k. I had planned on changing fluid and seals before install. I wouldn't have expected needing bolts.
The salvage yard has 2 cases with the same VIN from an XLT. The XLT case matches mine with the last digits of AE. The case ending with BG I believe to be a TOD but haven''t been able to confirm.

Thanks for everyones help. I was able to install the TOD transfer case into my 2021 XLT. Works great. I did not remove the front drive shaft. The only real issue I had was the u-nuts holding the transfer case skid plate. Three of the retaining nuts broke so I had to cut the bolts. Ford uses lock tight on the bolts making them very difficult to remove without damaging the nuts.
