I've seen a handful of 2024's not even lasting a month, blown turbos....well...it's an air flow issue..

Fords fix is to open up the air intake shroud in front of the intake horn...something many of us already did years ago.

Looks like the 2024's would benefit even more with a Velosa Tech Ram-Air kit...

Save your turbos, cool your engine, gain some HP and TQ...get the Velossa Tech Ram-air kit asap!
..and you could also upgrade to their "Lit Kit" too.

I have them on mine..

Luckily, I have a discount code for them...TANK10

Do you have pics of what you did to clean up the current shroud? I went out an looked at my '23, does appear to be room for improvement, it matches the 2024 restrictive shroud. Guess I could just go hacking at it with a razor, hate doing that.

@HammaMan Actually my 2/2023 build PB has the same closed up shroud as the 2024 in the TSB. Did the regular EBs get the shroud with a large hole in 2023? Either way I'll likely just knife it unless the shroud is cheap.

Edit, just looked it up, $58, that'll work....

what do you mean closed up shroud? Might want to take a pic of yours and show it before assuming you don't have the shroud that goes back over the rad

I'm referring to the hole in the shroud right in front of the snorkel. Mine does not have that hole as shown in the blue TSB pic. Which is the only real difference I can see between their before/after pics.

Is the airbox/filter not the choke point? I’d love a way to find a bigger or dual filter setup to increase the surface area of the filter.
The way I understand it is it’s not the airbox and filter. That’s the problem. It’s getting the air to the airbox snorkel. This explains the cut out in the shroud shown in the TSB.

This only applies to 24s indicating something else has changed (as in more than one variable) likely as a cost-cutting measure. You have the 21-23 design and it's not affected due to other changes -- Though it seems to be an issue that could pop up.

Question on winter performance... Out my way, temps in the Jan-Mar time frame regularly get down to -20ºF and colder. So, would this be overkill in those temperatures? If so can it be easily installed and removed?

I agree my truck is not part of the TSB, so there may be other mitigations. However, that flexible bit of rubber in front of the snorkel sure seems like it could cause the same issue as the '24 has. It is soft and quite easy to pull up and block air flow, not hard to imagine it doing so with a 70mph wind pushing on it at speed.

That's why I recommended the Velossa Tech kit, it'll shove air into the intake
