I have been fairly settled on a Tremor but went through the online price and build and by adding the high package it becomes only a few thousand less than the base Raptor which has all of the features that would be in the high package plus more. Since it is so close in price, what are the benefits of either choice?

The benefits are going to depend on what you use the truck for.
It will be a daily driver and I usually put on about 500-600 highway miles per week. On the weekends it will be general use around the barn and town. I don't tow very often but will bring a small trailer (under 5,000) on camping trips occasionally. No serious rock crawling, but it will need to be able to be a capable offroad truck.

Keep in mind that you can get roughly 10% off msrp by ordering the Tremor while the Raptor will likely have a markup.

Raptor has a nice ride for a Daily driver but if you tow, I would probably go Tremor. Just depends on the weight i guess. The Tremor also has the 5.0 option which is nice if that's a need. The Raptor may be a little more but if you decide to get rid of it in a few years, It will have held its value pretty well in comparison to other trims. You should be able to get a 35 package Raptor for sticker considering you are in Texas.

2018 Volvo XC60 and 23' Tremor 5.0 ordered.
don't forget prices for parts on the raptor will cost more. tires, brakes, suspension components, air filters, etc. while msrp is just a bit more, running costs will be more including gas and insurance. keep those factors in mind.
if it's a daily and not doing much off roading, i think the tremor is the way to go. also the high package tremor comes with a lot of raptor/ford performance goodies. just not the fox suspension.

A few things regarding this post. I personally own a 2022 Tremor with the 402a package. I also owned a 2020 Raptor. I think someone else mentioned that it will depend on what you plan on using the truck for.

When we sold our RV and off road car, I got this idea that buying the Raptor would allow me to still have that off roading experience (sand dunes in Calif)while having a vehicle I could drive daily. Although the Raptor had a Fantastic suspension with the Live Valve set-up, I was underwhelmed with the power of the engine, or lack of power. I’m not saying that it doesn’t have enough power to do the job but in my opinion, for the weight and shear size, it needed a V-8. It drove like a pig on the freeway and if you tried to lane bounce to get thru traffic, it was a pain in the ass due to the width. I also found that local trails were just wide enough to scrape the shit out of the sides while managing off road trails. I know I know, it’s a truck. But it was also 100k truck and I take care of my stuff. For those that have that lifestyle where money is no object or mommy and daddy bought your truck because they own a successful trucking company or other business, you won’t care.

And one other issue, at least in California, is that I don’t see how you’re gonna order one without a markup. If you buy one on the lot, at least at my local dealers, they are 25k over MSRP. They’ve also sold two Raptor R trucks for 180 grand and are known for greed.

I was lucky to buy my Tremor last year at MSRP but had to search and argue to get it. The truck I wanted in white was located in Los Angeles and they acted like I should be kissing their asses giving me the truck at 9k over. So yeah the Raptor, on paper seems a few grand cheaper but is it? The Tremor can do just about whatever the Raptor with the 3.5 can and has the Torsion front and I believe the same transfer case as the Raptor.

its your cash brother. Buy what you want but seriously go test drove them both and do a deep dive into your requirements of the truck before you make that purchase. Unless of course you’re one of those folks where money is no object

I wouldn't have complained if mommy and daddy had money but that isn't the case and I am too old for that anyway. While I like the idea of the Raptor having more resale value overall, I don't think it is worth having a truck that doesn't fit my daily needs and as much highway driving as I do, I am not sold that the Raptor would be better than the Tremor.

My comment wasn’t a slam against you in any way so if you perceived it that way, wasn’t my intention. I’ve just come in contact with lots and lots of people here in my home state that have money from sources that handed it to them simply by proxy. Lots of spoiled and entitled people here. Can’t tell you how many reports I took because some asshat wrecked a vehicle, killed someone or destroyed property and the 140k vehicle they were driving was purchased thru mommy and pops business. Usually drugs and alcohol involved but lots of times just having fun at other peoples cost.

No offense taken or perceived. All good.

Raptor is almost always locked out of all benefits / pricing / financing. You'll be able to get the tremor for much less than the raptor by shopping around. Raptors aren't really good tow vehicles with the soft suspension, but they sure can tear it up off road.

I really have struggled to love the Raptor since after gen 1, idk gen 2 really turned me off with the looks. However I guess I hated the 2015-2020 F-150 for the most part, the front end C-clamp lights and open bottom grilled were just awful departures of the usual Ford styling (imo). I jumped up and down with excitement when the 14th gen dropped with Ford-esk styling again. I like the latest Raptor more than gen 2 but the Tremor looks really nice and proportionate.
