My husband has had his 22 F-150 Platinum PB less than two months. The trailer brake error comes up as well as fast turn signal blinking inside on the dash. We’ve never connected a trailer. I’m very thankful for this forum so we can fix it without hopefully needing to involve the dealership.

Damn I have the same issue. Trailer brake module fault warning with fast blink turn signals on dash. I have a 22 PB with 300 miles and never hooked up a trailer. I did change out my license plate lights to leds but find that hard to believe what caused this issue. I guess it’s on to looking at those fuses and checking the wiring connections. I sure hope I don’t have to go to the dealer for this.

UPDATE: went out and pulled the fuse. It looked fine so I put it back in. No more trailer fault? Wth ?‍♂

Did you do a physical check of all the fuses when you bought the truck?

Due to reading about this issue on this or other F150 boards, I checked the fuses right after I got home. At least half were not fully seated.

My truck was built after the recall period.
Mine was build before and i still got the TSB fix. I think i seen another TSB for the trailer tow module on my internet travels, but didn't write down the number. Dealer will know as soon as they plug it into their system. I believe i seen it in this list someplace.......https://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/F-150/2021/tsbs/ and this is for 2022 https://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/F-150/2022/tsbs/

Thank You. Smitdog & Cocheran. Had dropped off my 21"powerboost at dealer while I was on vacation to take care of 4 recalls and do a complete pc reinstall do to updates not going thru. Had truck back for a couple of weeks when I start getting this tow brake fault. ( Not the dealership again) pulling fuses and replacing fixed the problems. Thanks again Guys

Just posting to say "thanks" to those who helped in this thread! My truck randomly started showing a 'Trailer Brake Control Module Fault' on startup and giving me the rapid blinker speed (inside the truck only; blinker speed was normal outside). I removed and reinstalled fuse #s 42 and 91 using the diagram from Smitdog's first post, and the issue cleared up.

Anecdotally, all fuses in the under-hood box were able to be seated a bit further, as many others have reported.

Thanks again!

I have a 22' Platinum PB Max Tow and had the fast blinker issue and trailer brake module fault warning. Just pulled fuse #91 and then reinstalled it. Heard some clicking and now everything is back to normal. Fuse was not blown. Curious to see if this solution sticks or if it comes back again.

The same trailer brake module fault error popped up this week, plus the fast inside turn signals. Fuse #91 was burnt out. Swapped with #34 and all was well. Amazon fuses on order.

Huge thank you to @Smitdog @mustanga10 @Cocheran.

I connected a boat trailer that had some really old / frayed wiring. Connected trailer's 5-way into truck's 7-way adapter, all worked fine initially. Eventually trailer wiring frayed off completely or shorted out, and I received a "Trailer Brake Module Fault" message on the dash.

No big deal, or so I thought. Disconnect trailer, and hit "OK" on message. Didn't work. For the past week I get the error message everytime I start the truck. Also of note, I have a "fast" blinker indicator sound, but all blikers are flashing at normal speed.

In an effort to clear the message, I went so far as to delete the associated trailer profile, checked all fuses related to a trailer (highlighted in red), and disconnected the battery for 10 minutes. Still get the error message and fast blinker sound.

I've read on other forums that disconnecting the battery for 20+ minutes has cleared the fault. I disconnected for 10 minutes, thinking that should be sufficient... But perhaps not long of enough time?

Any ideas? Seems like it would be a simple process to reset / clear.

Thank You Smitdog!!! I have a 2023 Powerboost with 3500 miles. Started getting the Trailer Brake Module Fault and the fast-sounding blinker 2 weeks ago. When I attached my boat trailer I only had tail lights working; no brake lights or blinkers with either the 5-pin or 7-pin. I pulled fuse 91 out and inspected it, no issues reinserted it and the problem was solved. The Dealer had a 5-day wait just to diagnose. Thanks for the info saved me a ton of hassle.

Another thank you to the great people of this forum!

I had the fault and took it do the dealer. They diagnosed that the module needs to be replaced but the part is on backorder with no estimated on availability. (It was going to cost me $100 for the repair as I just went over the base warranty and am in the extended warranty with $100 deductible). So I picked up the truck and pulled the 91 fuse, it tested ok with meter so I put it back in and the fault went away! It has been 3 days now and the issue has not returned.

Not sure if I will pay the $100 to have the new module installed when the part finally comes in or just want to see if the issue comes back.
