I had this issue only once! I have disconnected and reconnected the trailer module located just above the brake pedal, haven’t seen this warning since. So in my case it was perhaps a lose connector ??

Hello, Pete!
Send us a private message with your VIN and the name and location of your local Ford dealer.
I’d be happy to see what I can do to assist with this "trailer brake system fault" message on your F-150. Thanks!
I just took my new truck to the dealership for this recall, and was told they don’t have a fix yet, and to not tow a trailer. Not sure what to do as we have a trip coming up with our travel trailer!!

Did this get solved? I have same issue, trailer brake module fault periodically will driving, seems worse when cold or driving faster.

I pulled fuse #91 and #42 like some said in this thread. But I did it with engine off. Am I supposed to do it while engine is running?

Is there a guide on replacing the module?
