It works on the Build 2 trucks, the ones that were built the second half of the year. No forscan. Hopefully they'll release an update for the Build 1 trucks. It's been discussed in other threads.
Ok now I REALLY want to get my dash updated... how ridiculous!!

I've only been occasionally checking in the past several months so I haven't been up to speed on the "Build 2" differences. Now at least I know what to search to catch up, thanks. Wonder what else I'm missing out on now!

<Stupid Question Alert>
How do you know if you have a Build 1 or Build 2 truck?!
(Mine is June... so I am right in the middle of the year) :)

It's actually Job 1 and Job 2, from what I've read Job 2 is when they make a running change during productions. The Job 2 specs is somewhere buried somewhere in this forum, I couldn't find it just searching for it. The date on it is 8/2/2021, so I assume that would be the date.

I don't think my reply made it on the first try. How do you set the transmission to 7 speed? Do you use the manual option? Just curious.
Use the +/- buttons on your shifter. Hit minus until you see the gears 1-7 highlighted on your dash.

I'll bite:

Likes:
1. Ride, handling, and acceleration. Compared to my old 1996 RCSB with the inline six, this truck feels amazing to drive.
2. Driver assistance features. I use the adaptive cruise almost every day in heavy commuter traffic.
3. Headlights. Last night drove 65 miles at night on winding rural roads. Great visibility!
4. Parking sensors + 360 camera. I park in tight garage spots home and work and it's a huge help.
5. Column shifter. I have 302a with console + column shifter. Great combination for livability and storage.

Dislike:
1. Bed height. I miss being able to reach into the bed from the side.
2. Fuel economy. Getting only 19 mpg. overall with the 5.0 is a sticker shock over my recent Mazda CX5 that got 28 mpg.
Imagine how I feel coming from 36-38 Honda Accord :p

3. As someone else said, wish for fullscreen AA.
4. Climate control sort of random results. I would prefer recirc be available to defrost and stay on until I turn it off.
5. Can't believe Ford doesn't include garage remote in a $59,000 vehicle.
Not sure which trim you have, but I have a Homelink garage remote....good luck programming it. God is my witness that I tried.

Shout out to Ford for putting in auto brake assist. Heavy rainfall tonight and pitch black Parking. While baking into a spot the truck stopped itself suddenly. Decided to take a picture of how close to disaster our fun family trip to dinner could have been.
How do I know if I have Auto Brake Assist? I have 502A 5.0

Dislikes:
  1. Turning radius—pretty terrible even for a full-size vehicle.
+1 on that. Coming from Honda Accord, I know it's a much larger vehicle but still - very hard time adopting the turn radius (granted, only been driving it for 5 days).

Dislikes

5. The long obsolete Am/FM antenna (They can put a rover on Mars but still can't engineer a modern terrestrial radio antenna?)
100%! It is absolutely ridiculous that they still make these antennas.

Dislikes
  1. Keep your hands on the steering wheel alerts when using Adaptive cruise control with lane centering. The alerts happen about every 15 seconds unless you turn the steering wheel and offer resistance against lane centering, which is too often in my opinion. This does reduce the enjoyment of using lane centering. It takes a lot of time to get use to knowing that just resting your hands on the steering wheel is not good enough, even when lane centering is doing a great job.
+1 on that.
Not to mention the constant steering wheel resistant to your inputs.

  1. The rear seat (60 percent side) is a pain in the rear to drop the seats back and even more so to put back in place, even with an after market latch release. I wish Ford would make the rear seat back fold down like the 40 percent side because I use the space for storage because I have no subwoofer.
Thought it was just me. Isn't it something? I too put the aftermarket latch and need to struggle for 5-10 minutes with the back seat in order to latch it back in place.

As much as that wait sucked ass... the "silver lining" is that Ford made a lot of upgrades after the July 7th production date.
The 7/8/21 GEN14 is not the same as the 7/6/21 GEN14.

I'm not sure yet if I'm 100% happy with the changes but the fact that they did make so many obviouse changes the 2021s we got are likely more of a 2022 built in 2021. We won't really know until the 22's hit the lots.

It could end up being a minor factor in "resale" but if I remain as happy as I am with my truck, I doubt I'll be selling it.
What "upgrades" are you talking about? I just took delivery of my truck last week, 12/9 built, and the number of issues for a $65K vehicle is absolutely astonishing. Terrible workmanship and evern worse QC. They rush to send trucks off of the line, missing parts, wrong parts, broken parts.

Dislike:
1. STOCK 20" Hankook AT2 Tires. They're not good. Period. Looking to replace them soon.
3. Stop/Start function can't be fully disabled. I turn this off as soon as i get in the truck as i just can't stand it. I don't know what all goes into it and i understand its supposed to "Save fuel" when sitting at a light. But where i'm from we don't sit at lights for any longer then 1.5 minutes and I can't imagine it's good for your starter to be turning on/off that often.
5. Truck honks when i take 2 steps from it with the keys when its running. Not sure if i can turn this off but its a bit annoying when dropping my daughter off at school.
5.1. - If i remove my phone from the truck while its running while on Apple CarPlay and then get back into it a few minutes later, it doesn't re-connect. But i do love that Ford does over-the-air updates and it seems my Sync system has been better over the past month or so with connection issues.
I wonder, why are you saying that? Again - only drove about 1000 miles from the dealer back home and short erands, but what did you see/feel that they are not good?
I'm sure there are better quality tires but I'd hate to spend another grand now on new tires. And what do I do with the (relatively) new OEM ones, dump them in the trash?!

Auto Start/Stop can be disabled with aftermarket $90 adapter and 15 minutes of labor. Still haven't decided if I am going to do it, even though prior to even having the truck I swore this would be my first mod. The first one ended up being the back seat latch release.

Double Honl can be disabled through Forescan, if you're up to it.

Many dislikes have been mentioned, I'll add on of my own:

I really, and I mean - really, am not impressed with SYNC 4. Watching a lot of videos and reading about it I was expecting a WOW. No wow from me.

It’s not good, even from a 2016 F150. Definitely a disappointment on this truck.

I agree with what you said about early GEN14 not like later GEN14. I've read on this site about owners not being able to activate the rear view cameras while driving at speed. My rear view cameras will show at any speed. I also don't have the annoying start/stop feature. My build date was 9/20/21.
XLT 302a
They offered the "A.S.S Delete" as an option when they were so low on chips it was holding up production. I tried to "opt out" but it was too late.

But in certain circumstances I don't mind it. When I know I'll be waiting at the long lights... why not? The starter has been completely redesigned to handle the extra cycling plus... in Sport Mode it shuts it off and the on/off switch on the dash is convenient enough. (good thing because "Sport Mode" in a 5.0 RCSB is ridiculous! I mean really... it's a friggin "pick up truck" NOT a Mustang!)

I think I liked the dash graphics better on the pre-7/9 builds but that's BEYOND "knit picking".

I would have liked having my Snow Plow activation as a physical switch on the dash rather than a menu option but all the other advatages that come with the Snow Plow option (for a 50 measly bucks) is worth not having it. Besides... I'll never actually be running a "Snow Plow" anyway and I can trigger my aftermarket lights with the relay wired to my high beams.

I’ve had a 2002 Screw Lariat and a 2006 SCab Lariat prior to this truck for reference.
Likes:
1: Power and Torque (I‘ve been easy on it so far, just 1100 miles on it as of today)
2: Fuel Economy is reasonable (avg. a little over 18 in mostly city driving)
3: Quietness and comfort of the cab and seats (heated and cooled)
4: Ride is good by comparison to my older trucks, even when they were newer
5: Kind of lumps in with #1, but what I have towed so far has been much better than either of my other 2 older trucks in regards to not even feeling like a trailer is back there.

Dislikes:
My build date was 8/28/21 so I’m not seeing some of the issues that the earlier builds are seeing. I’m glad for that as I’d be pretty upset over those issues still not being fixed months after I’d given $58K for a truck.
1: When towing a trailer, I don’t need to be reminded EVERY time I put the truck in reverse that my backup braking assist and blind spot monitoring wont’ work with the trailer connected. The dash beeping and OK button needing to be pushed are a huge distraction when I’m starting to back up. (I haven’t found a way to override this, maybe you can’t?)
2: Dash sometimes doesn’t go back to last screen/ shows my view (maybe 1 in 10 times I start the truck)
3: Horn honking when getting out with truck running (2 honk issue). I really don’t want to use something like Forscan, as my local dealer are jerks to deal with if they think you’ve touched anything on your vehicle, and my purchasing dealer is 70 miles away.
4: Still can’t get used to the electric parking brake (nothing’s wrong with it other than just feels strange)

I’m fortunate that I was getting ready to order a truck and found this one on a lot that was my exact order with the exception of having 3 years nav already on the sticker. Auto Start/Stop was factory deleted as I’d already decided I didn’t want that with the turbo engine as it’s definitely hard on turbos. Overall I’m very happy with the truck and have no regrets with it.

I do not. Just use the arrow but don't go into manual. The down arrow will start reducing the number of gears. The up arrow will add. Unfortunately you have to remember to do it every time.
