Tire cut or delaminating?

Hi, all. A strange one, does this look like a cut from something to you or the tire delaminating from your perspective?

Fortune would have it that I was planning to replace the tires at some point this year so no great loss there as such, but curious as to thoughts from others or if you’ve experience anything similar.

to note, I haven’t taken it off-road, I certainly don’t remember catching anything sharp that could cause it and really only noticed it this weekend by chance when I was getting something out of the bed.

To me, it looks like it was cut, only because at the 12 o'clock area, the threads look cut vs frayed and it may have split more after it was cut. Who/what ever did this, the tool they used was SHARP !!!

I agree with Rinn. It looks like a cut and then started to spread a little once it was weakened.

Damn, don't drive on that tire as it looks to have cut some of its structural nylon.

I agree, that tire is toast. Replacement is necessary, and if you don't have a tire shop close by, I would install the spare. I certainly would not use it on the freeway.

A strange one for me as I say, I really racking my brain as to how it came about? Still, agree on the tire condition and as soon as I noticed it I put the spare on the get me to where I need to go.

Now to go through tire choice decisions, where I’m head deep into various thread about it all haha.

How many miles you have them? Tire rack replaced one of mine when I had 1k miles on it for buying 4 tire warranties. $250 to replace it and warranty other factory tires. When I got my new wheels/tires I transferred the certificates over. Discount tire

Circa 41,000 - they are the tires my truck came with, I believe I was down to around 4-5/32 on tread.

Sorry to see that happen to an otherwise decent tire. Definitely needs to be replaced for sure. Happy to help answer any questions you may have!

Mileage on the tire and is there any Road Hazard left on it?

Had no complaints on the 19 with Dynapro AT's on it in fact they road and drove better the any Goodyear AT on the previous trucks..

They had around 41,000 miles on them. A shame, but I was due a change anyway.

I completely agree, I enjoyed the AT2’s with very few - if any - complaints for sure, but I actually ended up going with some Toyo, Open Country A/T 3’s - the 50 miles or so that I’ve driven in them I’ve very much enjoyed so far!… I’m somewhat surprised myself on the quietness and smoothness given the more aggressive tread look. Using a highly accurate DB tester (happens to also look like an Apple Watch) the sound levels are very consistently the same / actually less… maybe its all in the mind though haha - still, I wanted to experience a different tire to learn more of what I want / like in them for the future.

Haha! With my luck, I’d catch on something and do more damage than the fun that it would be.
